Phantom
Iwas going to see Jerry at All Z Car Specialist yesterday and, as I was entering the off-ramp from Loop 820 South, another new shiny red SRT-4 goes buzzing past me. He was going to make a left at the light but I pulled up next to him with my window rolled down, gave a long sslloow LS1 rev and then smiled at him. Evidently that was more than he and his buddy could take so, when the light turned green, they came off the line in a big hurry - headed straight. Once again I really wasn't planning on this happening so he got the jump on me. BUT - I pulled past him in first so I was slightly in front for the tire bawling 1st-to-2nd shift and then just blew him totally away. Never did see him again. Too bad he had to go out of his way to get so badly embarrassed!!! That makes four in the past 8 days. I need an SRT-4 kill sticker and a series of hash marks for my fender. Guest bastaad525
lucky guy I was soooooo close to buying one of those but didn't, now I"m just dying to race them... something about not ending up getting one as badly as I wanted one has caused me to resent them now.... I'll catch one sooner or later.
Guest 2slo4u
Man, you guys racing those srt's should really film it. I would love to see one of those rolling recalls getting smoked and it would be a total thrill to show it to some guys at work. Most of them lack any respect for z-cars because they have never owned one or raced against one. :malebitchslap: It would be great motivation for me while I'm in the process of modifying my 280zxt to 300zxt electronics! 81zxturbo 95slobaru impreza1.
auxilary
This coming from a guy who wants to hop up a 1.8L fwd subaru that gets smoked by kias? We just put a 3" SS exhaust on his srt4, and he's in process of putting on remnants of the stage 2 kit. So, a factory backed car making over ~300hp at the crank that costs 20k isn't impressive, right? His is now probably putting down somewhere around ~250whp. Wait until DC decides to release the razor. That motor + 6 speed + rwd, weighing 2500lbs.
Phantom
The huge disadvantage the SRT-4 guys have right now is my single exhaust. They don't look hard and notice the duals gong into the muffler and evidently can't tell the sound difference between an I6 & V8. They look at me as an easy kill and are a bit sloppy. On the track where they are really serious it is closer but still the same result. The only time the car lost to an SRT-4 was one with nitrous at Texas Motorplex and my son was driving for the first time and he botched both the 3rd and 4th gear shifts. The SRT-4 was running 13.2-13.3's all night and I was running 12.9-13.0's.
auxilary
The biggest disadvantage to the srt4 is fwd. It has no traction. Not in first, and most of 2nd. It just spins tires and doesn't catch. Stock 205 tires don't really help either.

Stock 205 tires don't really help either. SERIOUSLY!!!! I never would have put the 2 and 2 together to understand why a car like the SRT, which is actually very close in power and torque numbers to my Z, has such an easier time spinning the tires than my Z does. Then I bought my Sentra SE-R... and this car has like half the power and torque of my Z, but is SO easy to chirp or even spin the tires if I barely try to launch with any speed at all.... Makes perfect sense to me now, as I can feel the car dipping like crazy in the back and will all the weight transferred over the back wheels like that it's no wonder the fronts have no traction. The really short first gear helps I"m sure as well. Actually... the really short overall gearing, the ease of which you can get the tires squealing, and the high 7500rpm redline lend to the overall impression that the car is much faster than it really is (0-60 in about 8.5 seconds... slowwwwwwwwwwwww). Must be why so many of the honda guys think their cars are fast
80LS1T
Hey Auxilary, from what I have heard the stage 2 kit is actally slower than stock! Thats just a rumor at work(dodge dealership) though so I dont know if its true or not? I personally dont care for tbe Borla(part of the stage 2 kit I believe) exhaust. I think the Greddy exhaust looks nicer. Guy
Guest HolyLlama
The hashmarks isn't a bad idea, I'd love to see some.
auxilary
stock vs. aftermarket me on the right bolting the assembly together The car's quick once it's moving, but off the line it's very difficult to get a good launch. Wheel hop is a major issue too, even though he's stiffened the motormounts.
Phantom
Well, I've run one from a stop and I've run one with a running start at about 60 mph - same results in each case. I will admit I pulled the one from a stop much faster but even at 110 I was still walking away unlike a modified Z28 Camaro I got all hot & bothered this morning, That guy was really fast but never found out just how fast beacause we were behind one of Arlingtons finest and I don't think he would have been happy with us. wigenOut-S30
Hey Aux. why does that exhaust have 2 tail pipes? that exhaust looks good. but seems it should just exit out on that one side and not really split.Seems like it would use alot less pipe and bends if it went straight back.. I guess it is just for looks?? I would like to see how the SRT4s are doing in 4-5 years.. see if they hold up good.. I really like the way the Razer looks.. Guest 2slo4u
Yeah, I'll give them about three years, max. I also worked at a dodge dealership and remember all of the hype when the srt was coming out. Seems like losing one of the exhaust tips would save some weight and help overall performance. Yeah, I would like to get a little more hp out of my subaru, but who doesn't want more hp? Maybe that's why you're putting those larger, heavier pipes on, because you think that small difference in air friction will yield a noticeable increase in hp. It'll probably be cancelled out by the additional weight it adds. The only reason I'm trying to help the poor subaru get some ponies is because of how ridiculously slow it is compared to my Zx, and when I'm working on the Zx, it sucks having the fast and furious wannabes trying to race me, they seem to think it is a wrx. Hmm, maybe I'll get a 2.5turbo from a wrecked legacy and smoke you too, my friend. And I won't need eight extra pounds of exhaust pipe to do it. 81zxturbo 95slobaru impreza
