slownrusty
Both great cars simply put. The Z is handsome from every angle and revolutionized the Sports Car industry and handed the Europeans (especially the British) their asses on a burning skillet. The 2000GT is probably THE most valueable Japanese car that can be bought today. It has unusual and extremely exotic lines which is breathtaking and grows on you. I love them and would donat a few organs to have one! I think because it is so rare that its appeal to me is in an "infatuation" categroy. Simply put....the Z is like that cute neighborhood girl from around the corner. She says "hi" makes you feel like a million bucks, flutters the eyelids and smiles and can actually hold a conversation. The 2000GT is the Hollywood actress temptress that we drool over and want to be with, but will never happen, so there is a fantasize component here. You see her pretenious ass on the street and she looks at you like you do not exist, but you don't care...because you actually saw her! Okay enough of the novel.... BillZ260
I would have to say the 2000, maybe it's because you NEVER see them but I fell in love after seeing Bond drive it 'you only live twice'. It even had a DVD touch screen it in way back... Oh... I love my z, it is more of a race car to me, the 2000 would be my touring car
DatsunBoy77
Can someone clarify something for me... to this point I have always been under the impression that the 2000GT was the first true japanese sports car ever made... I just want to be sure if that is true or not? Though I will often say to my honda-loving friends that the Z was the first import sports car just to shut them up when they try to preach how their cars are so great (like any of them would know what the 2000GT is anyways...). I guess the Z was the first mass-produced japanese sports car? Well being a datsun roadster owner, I have learned some new facts. The 1962 datsun 1500 roadster was the first sports car offering of datsun. It wasnt much of a sports car until it moved up to a 1600 model in 1965. The 1967.5 2000 roadster, in mint condition can reach up to $50,000 in japan, was advailable with a 150hp engine in a 1850lb car. The Roadster ended production in 1970, with under 50,000 made worldwide, in favor of the Z car.
zdmz
I like the Z car better. The smooth lines of the 2000 are nice, and the interior is very good looking, but the headlights are just too much. I am undecided about the rear end - overall it looks good but the big bumpers are a big detraction. The side view of the 2000 is also very nice. Although the z car is more angular looking it has nicer lines overall.
