kalium99
Hi, I have the oppurtunity to buy some Simmons rims which 8" on the back and 7" on the front. What sort of offset/BS will they have to have so they will clear the suspension and wheel guard ? Cheers Ray
Drftn280zxt
Alright, this has been discussed multiple times. Do a search on backspacing and offset and I'm sure you'll find your answer. If not PM me, and inform me on what kind of car you have, and I'll help you.
fastzcars
4 inches backspace in front and 5 inches in back. I have 17x7 and 17x8's :lol:By the way 8 inch wheels won't fit with stock suspenion, only with coilover's, Other wise 7 inches all around for stock suspension. kalium99
That applies for 15" as well and is regardless of offset ?
maichor
15" will be worse because a shorter wheel will ride closer to the spring and perch because they angle away from the tire as they go up. I didn't explain it well, but I think you know what I am getting at. Also, Those wheels probably have a FWD offset, so they will have a large backspace. Again, you have to compare the wheels you are looking at to stock and others that have done this. You should be able to find tons of threads on wheel fitment. It is all here, just keep digging. kalium99
Indeed maichor, I see what your saying. Actually the wheels are Simmons (don't know why I thought they were BBS) and came off a zed. Although I'm not sure if the Zed had standard suspension.
260DET
How much for the Simmons, if you don't mind me asking Very hard to get in those sizes eh. Surest way is to measure the amount of backspace your car will take. Fix a straightedge to the cars wheel hub face and measure back to the struts, springs, etc from there. Have the suspension at ride height.
