akeizm
But if you didnt want to make any hood mods you could just get for example a greddy plenum to replace the rb20/25 plenum. That will also reduce intercooler piping length. But gettin the flange for the driveshaft will be harder if you get a halfcut? Unless you can ask the supplier of the cut for the driveshaft? Guest 240Zdragon72
Well, I guess from reading all the other RB swap forums, I'll just stick to fabbing my twin turbo manifold for my L28 rebuild motor. Now I have to search for supplies and materials to make it. Thanks anyway, guys.
Guest jjohnson
you don't need to modify the drive shaft flange for the rb20 gearbox...it fits straight in. walkingpig(Charles from aus) has done the swap and told me this I'm going to be doing the rb20 swap as soon as i can get my hands on a cheap engine package/front cut here in perth... The flange being refered to is the diff to driveshaft flange. It has to be replaced with a flnage off the same diff that the driveshft came from
mjfawke
So getting more power out of the RB20 is a simple as configuring the ECU? The only reason i wanted to go an RB25 is because its just a more powerful motor out of the box. And because i know someone who is getting an RB20 in there Z and i need to stay on top There are a few places that have experience with re-tuning these. Basically the ROM is replaced with a socket so you can swap the ROM's. There are a number of ROM editors for the RB series of engines that let you play with the mapping. Real-time editors on the dyno are the better way. AFAIK' date=' the RB25 computers have one-time programmable processors...[/quote'] So, you could reprogram a rb20 ecu to run on an rb25? Yes - but technically you are open to having the book thrown at you by the EPA. Less likely to be picked up at a roadside inspection... but then again, you could just build an Autronic board into the Nissan case - quite common for GroupN rallly where the internals of the computer are free.
