garry Posted February 1, 2003 Share Posted February 1, 2003 i have just installed my 383 crank in the motor and when i put the cam in as you turn the motor the cam hits the big end bolt head?? it is a scat stroker crank and scat 5.7 I beam rods i have tryed different cams but thay all touch any answers ??? Mike C Posted February 1, 2003 Share Posted February 1, 2003 You have to grind the edge of the rod and bolt head on two of the rods. 4 & 6? I don't remember for sure. Zfreak Posted February 1, 2003 Share Posted February 1, 2003 Mike is right. Check each rod one at a time, grind the corner for clearance and then have your rods re-balanced. quicker240 Posted February 2, 2003 Share Posted February 2, 2003 you may want to look into a small base circle cam.I had one in my 406 sbc to clear carillo rods.might be cheaper and easier to change the cam than clearancing and rebalancing everything.
