Guest Magnum Rockwilder
I got this scam email a few minutes ago about my ads in the classifieds section. I assume most of you know what it is, but if you don't, it's a scam where people overseas, usually Nigeria, send a cashier's check for more than the asking price and have you wire them the overage through Western Union. Then the check turns out to be counterfeit and you're screwed. Here's how I deal with them: --- frysmith@keramail.com wrote: > HELLO SELLER, > > I AM HEREBY INTERESTED IN YOUR PURCHASE WHICH MY > CLIENT REALLY LIKE AND REALLY INTERESTED IN > BUYING.ALSO, I WILL LIKE YOU INFORM ME MORE ABOUT > IT, IF PICTURES ARE AVAILABE,DON'T HESITATE TO SEND > SOME TO ME.MY MODE OF PAYMENT IS BY CHECK. > > AND ALSO YOUR FULL INFORMATION IS NEEDED FOR YOU GET > THE PAYMENT > ASAP........... > > NAME..................... > ADDRESS................... > POSTAL CODE.................... > STATE..................... > COUNTRY...................... > TEL NUMBER...................... > LAST OFFER........................... > GET BACK TO ME FAST > > I LOOK FORWARD TO READ FROM YOU SOONET > > CHEERS, > > SMITH...... ---Magnum_Rockwilder@Yahoo.Com wrote: >Suck my ******* balls, you goat ******* piece of llama shit. > >Regards, > >M. Guest Magnum Rockwilder
I'm past wasting any more than 10 seconds on them, but that was pretty funny.
CruxGNZ
Yes! That was pretty cool Magnum. 8) So, people from other countries are looking in OUR classifieds to scam our members? This doesn't sit well with me . However, by they way they type, you would have to have the intelligence of Anna Nicole Smith to give them anything but a rather colorfull response. !M! Guest DiZeased_240
I had some bastard try to do the same thing to me for my wife's Honda that was on autotrader.com last year. The car was for sale for $5,000. Wanted to give me a check for $10,000 and then have me send the difference to his "business associate" that he owed money to. Worthless punks! I sent it to the autotrader customer service for fraud. I then told the jerk that sent it he could take his check and shove it up his a$$. The really sad part is, some people are foolish enough to do this otherwise this scam would have disappeared a long time ago.
Guest Magnum Rockwilder
My mom sent me an email last week asking me about an email she received. She had a vase on Ebay for $1000 "buy it now" or $9.99 opening bid, and this guy sent her an email saying he would click "buy it now" if she would accept a cashier's check for $2000 and then send him the extra $1000 minus 10% for her trouble. I had to explain the whole scam to her because she was totally ignorant of it, and she's been selling on Ebay for years. You'd be surprised how gullible some people are when they think they're gonna make money.
JKDGabe
Glad this was posted as I was about to post the exact same letter. People need to be kept informed about it. I get several of those every time I post anything for sale anywhere.

KG78Z
You would think any one with any common sense would see all sorts of red flags when someone wants to send more money than you are asking. Then to do a favor and pass the exta along??!!... Yeah right. I do not know who said but it must be correct, "There is a sucker born every minute." Hybrid240z
I hate these scammers too. I am trying to sell some chrome 17 inch wheels that were on my tacoma when I bought it and have received so many similar e-mails from scammers. fl327
I start negotiating with them for fun. "2000 for my $18 dollar part, ok fine, I want 1700 ill send you 300" I have gotten them up to me keeping half their check, until I tell them to suck it.
