Who's running 255/40/17's on all fours unflared

I looked around but couldn't find examples of the front.

I remember a while back someone had cobra wheels with 245's and thought he could fit 255's, coil overs of course.

 

I'm asking becuse there are a few sets of Cobra wheels with 255/40/17's on 17x9's for a good price, I think the tires might suck though.

I don't believe you will be able to fit 255-40 x 17" tires under a unflared stock Z (240, 260, 280). I have a set of 17"x9" (rear) with 235-40s tires and I'm right on the limit of clearance.

I've seen 255's before, in the rear that is.

 

I also have my doubts about the front, but I'd like to know if it's been done.

It can be done. Scott Performance in Santa Clara, CA did it with an RB26DET 240z. The tires fit under rolled lipped fenders...no flare front and back. 255/17 potenzas.

 

You might call and ask them.

A buddy of mine with a 280Z has 275's out back on the 17" Cobra wheels. They just fit on his unflared car. He does have coilovers though.

I just got my wheels in today:

ROH Snypers, 4x114.3

17x8 front 17x9 (10" lip tp lip)

They were suppose to be 4" BS with +17mm offset, actual measurement is 5.6" in the rear.

I have coilovers and there's about 1/4 between the strut tube and the wheel

 

 

I haven't cut my fender lip yet (not sure if I'll have to), but the lip of the rim is right at the edge.

I think I'll roll the lip on the rear maybe even the front, take my car and wheels down to Discount tire and see what fits.

it is possible ... I'm running 295's in back and 245's in frt w/ rolled lip in back ..

Bump I want to know...with pics someone. I think some people are changing the parameters...275 definately with not fit unless the rim is smaller. So will

As I stated before... I have 255-40-17s on the rear of my stock bodied 280Z with coil overs... I am running 245s up front in the same specs...

 

THEY DO FIT... 275s stick out about half an inch past the fender well...

Uh yeah, you are driving a 280zx! Waaaaaay more room for rubber under there than on the earlier Z cars.

Ok so Mike Kelly showed us the rear fit but the fronts 255?...

Fronts in that pic are 245s, but you could do front 255s with Jamie's Custom aluminum hub with 240Z offset.

 

You might get away with a 255 with a little negative camber and rolling the fender lip on the fronts... Without it there is a little extention past the fender when using the 300ZX hub.
