Guest Cronic
I've been rebuilding my engine for the last month or so... waiting on parts is retarded... Has anyone heard of an oil slinger?? This thing has got to be the oddest piece I've ever seen. Well anyway, I installed it backwards I guess, and while testing out the motor manually turning it over, I destroyed this piece. I've been tryin to source one out locally, but it's difficult, and people are giving me the run around. Has anyone built an L28ET before? Can anyone give me any tips on setting everything up properly, such as the timing and such. I think I have everything setup correctly, and I've turned the motor over by hand several times, just to be sure of valve clearance and everything. Im just paranoid. This is a stock rebuild, with ARP head studs.
olie05
Setting the ignition timing shaft is a pita but make sure you do it right. Do you have the "how to rebuild your nissan ohc" book? That is a very important book to read when doing a rebuild. Other than that make sure all torques are correct and you should be fine. -Oliver
Guest Cronic
I don't have the book. I guess it would be nice to have. I've just been going by blind luck.
JMortensen
The How to Modify book says leave the slinger out. Get the How to Rebuild or How to Modify book. At the very least get a Haynes manual and at least you'll have all the torque values.
