Also, the RB25ET swap is alot cheaper to begin with since the complete engine and trans is cheaper than just the RB26 engine alone. I returned your PM about the manual trans conversion parts. Good timing for you and me. I need to get tthat car gone and the weather has sucked so bad that I haven't wanted to start taking it apart yet. The next week or so is calling for temps in the 50's. So, I'm gonna start taking it down now.

Can you post a pic of that auto tranny?

Hey, I would, but its already gone. my car didn't have the tranny but had the motor. sorry. Jamie, i'm in no big rush for the pedal assemblie so you don't need to rush the destruction of your z just for it. But i'll be getting in touch with. And thanks to everyone that has helped clarify all of this stuff.

Im not sure about $18K...Im doing a RB20DET into a 71 Z and so far my expenses are about 4.5K including the engine, intercooler, emanage, down pipe and "headers", engine mounts, and new gaskets and injectors...I still need to a 3" exhaust. Now saying that Im only including the price of engine install...no suspension or cost of car.... Oh ya I still need a fuel pump, boost gauge and and piping and a few odds and ends but with wise shopping that will be no probs. And yes the turbo will be stock....for now! ;)

My old engine was a 280 turbo block bored and stroked to 3.1L with all the bells and whistles..mikunis, nissan motorsports parts etc and believe me its alot more expensive!!!!!!! And it runs like an SCCA racer....burps and farts at low speed and loud and fast as the RPMs grow! Best time I got with carbs on the quarter was 14.5sec at 98.9mph I cant wait to finish this install and drive the old gal.

Nothing wrong with spending, I guess Im "frugal" Its a matter of what you are trying to accomplish with the final product. If your chasing high ponies go for it. Im going for as much as the stock internals will hold securely, at that point the 240z will still be faster than a scared bat!

As far as cheaper mounts, contact brad at Omni glass...there a link to him earlier in this thread. His mounts are well designed, beautifuly welded and functional ...I believe they are about $100 for the pair. Very good deal...my frugal side comming out again!!!
