Brad-ManQ45
I'm thinking of gettin a Suxuki SV650 - naked. Thisis not for commuting, but for going around in a group of other friends (and not hot-dogging - this ain't the bike for that). I've been out of motocycles for close to 28 years and know there are a lot more manufacturers out there (Used to have a Bell full coverage). I know about certifications, but would like to know where to go to find honest appraisals of the different helmets. TIA, Brad

Mikelly
http://www.discountmotorcyclehelmets.com/ I have an HJC MILLER LT20 racer replica, and the fit and finish is great. I have owned Shoei, Bell, Bieffe, and Nolan helmets. My recommendation is that it be SNELL2000 and Dot approved. Another site you could check would be www.helmetsRus.com, but the above link beat every price they had. Go into a shop and try the helmet brand you are thinking of on, and then order online. You will save A BUNCH of money... Did I mention I love my new (To Me) ZX9R? Nothing like 130+ HP and 50+MPG!! Mike
Guest Anonymous
I've always liked the simpson helmets, I guess its the Darth Vader mouth piece, but its a nice helmet. I wear either a DOT approved full face (not sure of the brand, but its not super expensive) or a Bell half helmet (its a harley thing ). Shoei makes great helmets as well, I used to like the Bell star, but its not around anymore, the simpson is close with the smaller window which I like, that and the tint makes it look pretty wikid. Guest Tim78zt
Snell must have a site that rates the different brands. We took a tour of the Simpson plant during the Nat'l convention and the way they make helmets is nothing short of incredible!! Attention to every small detail. They have about 16 different sizes to choose from...not just S,M, L. I can tell you that Simpson claimed they were already pre-certified for the next Snell test. They are serious about safety!! Brad-ManQ45
Basically it sounds like if it meets the Snell and DOT tests then whatever floats my boat - I suspect lightness, ventilation and ability to have speakers will guide the decision... Thanks guys! Brad
Guest Anonymous
Correct, look for Snell 2000 and/or DOT and you'll be as safe as one can be at least for your head. Regards, Lone
CruxGNZ
I second the SHOEI! It worked like a charm for me . Also, the fit was excellent, and it had great ventilation. !M!
auxilary
I had a shoei rf800, got it with the bike. my nose stuck almost into the vent, and generally it was a warm helmet with crappy ventilation. the arai quantum/f is what i have now - terrific helmet, worth every penny. has detachable cheek pads, 10 vents (7 of which can be open/closed) retractable neck guard spoiler, etc.
