midnightzxt
Well, I got the new clutch yesterday, so I took the old one off today. When the flywheel came off, my buddy and I noticed that two teeth, about 5 apart are 1/2 way chiped off, and most all the teeth are ground down on the clutch side. What are your suggestions? (I've never troubleshooted a flywheel before)
JMortensen
If its stock just get another one. Might want to look at the starter too. Sounds like the solenoid isn't throwing the little gear all the way out. Is it grinding sometimes when you start it?
midnightzxt
actually, the car starts perfect, never misses, etc.. The grinding on the flywheel is from a couple of times when I've turned the key with the car on.. Other than that, it seems to start fine. Guest boosted
Agree, replace the flywheel ,(easy find) and look to the starter to be at fault for the unusual wear on the flywheel. was this once an auto car? probably the starter .
slownrusty
Love the Maxima on the graytech website! Not too often do you see one in such great condition let alone with a L28ET! Yasin
Guest PBGreg21
I have a '83 2 seater flywheel, freshly resurfaced about a week ago for sale if you want it.
Guest DoTheDrew888
Unless you are running a non-turbo clutch then that flywheel wont work. The 2-seater NA 280ZX has a flywheel with a 225mm contact surface. The Turbo and 2+2 models have a flywheel with a 240mm contact surface. Just something to consider.
