fl327
Bone stock L28et in a 75 280z will go neck and neck with a 350z from a rolling start. If i can get good traction, I can hold position in the lead with whatever lead a good jump got me. On a road track I think Id get destroyed by a 350z, and probably lose on top end of 1/4 too. Guest bastaad525
I wonder what stock new cars would be a really good match for my car in it's current setup. ~270hp and a monstrous 350ft lbs of torque (flywheel est.) in a ~2400 lb package... should be aiming a bit higher than stock 350Z's and WRX's . But I wouldn't even think of trying a Viper, on a straight or twisty road. Well I'd TRY, but, I think trying would be about it . Lot's of more powerful cars on the road these days but they're all so HEAVY, seems almost every car is 3200-3400lbs these days... back when the 300zx TT debuted at about the same weight it was considered so FAT, same for the Supra, now fat is the standard. Doesn't that old rule of thumb dictate that 1000lbs is worth roughly 100 hp?
lifegrddude
Try running some of those turbo Neons, they're pretty fast out of the box for a fwd econobox. And the Mopar upgrades on those things makes them fast from a roll, from a dig they suffer from wheel hop. You could always try running against the STIs and Lancers, or the new GT Mustang and GTO? Cadillac CTS-V was pretty fast when I drove it. It was a little slower than the C6 I got to drive too.
Guest bastaad525
already ran a stock SRT-4... NOOOO contest Also a bone stock Evo a friend of a friend bought, just over 4000 miles on the odo, also nooooo contest well to be fair I think it WOULD have been a contest but seemed to me he bogged the launch pretty bad... I haven't got to race an STi yet but would like to the son of the guy who did my turbo swap just bought one, I was taunting him but he only had a couple hundred miles on it and didn't want to mess with it before breaking it in. With my cars power to weight ratio, in theory at least it should be much faster than either an Evo or an STi... I put down close to the same amount of HP (almost identical to the stock Evo) but weigh much much less... their advantage of course is the AWD. Same deal with the new Mustang GT's... a bit more power than my Z but sooo much heavier, think I could probably take one of those w/o much fuss. I figure that the Cobra I raced was probably very close in power and weight as the new GT's. I ran a C5 Vette and it was really close but he was pulling away by the time I let off... or rather, he was catching up as I had gotten about a car length head start on him. Don't think I could touch a C6, and those CTS-V's are pretty darn quick too... not your granpa's cadillac to be sure!
mario_82_ZXT
and you have a car..... a honda civic hatch back... with a slick body kit... lowered... rims... exhaust... racing seats.... two tone paint.... and a few other goodies. Oh yeah, and a cute asian girl sitting in your passengers seat. A car passes you, you get behind him and meet him at a stop light. You rev your engine, you here him load up his crappy oe torque converter at 2k rpms, light turns green.... Your wheel chirp. But whats this? The car next to you is now a car length in front. You give up at 65 mph because he is now several car lengths in front... What would a ricer do if he was beaten by me, a broke 17 yr old in a work shirt and messy hair: In a 23 year old car: With stock exhaust and boost? With the only mod being MSnS-Extra, which hasn't been even fully tuned yet. Man I'd kill myself after all that money I spent, and I still lost, in front of my girlfriend. Jeez... I never street race, but this guy was ticking me off (he was riding my bumper). He got what he deserved. Mario
Guest bastaad525
I don't even bother with the hondas anymore... there's just no point, I've yet to encounter a fast one. All primered body kits and big loud exhausts. I know the fast ones are out there... wonder where they all are? I'm in SoCal for crissakes... they should be everywhere!
