shauno Posted April 30, 2005 Share Posted April 30, 2005 As of now my wastegate dumps just down from the turbo with a slant cut on the pipe. When it reaches boost, oh my, does it scream with fear! I want to move the location of the dump to the edge of the fender and install a muffler on the pipe to quiet it down a bit. At the moment I don't want to tap into my exhaust downpipe because of time restraints so I'll have to plan for that. Has anyone used a muffler on their setup? or know where I can source one. Tony D Posted April 30, 2005 Share Posted April 30, 2005 Pop Yoshimura Motorcycle Mufflers were the preferred muffler for that service while I was living in Japan, they make a nice tone. I have also seen VW Tailpipes used. I would stick with glasspacks, as you want a clean dump, and not anything with restriction. The PopY pipes were the right diameter, and usually had a nice headpipe to whack apart and hook up via an expandable flew joint.... Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

If you're listening for it, it sounds like a hillbilly playing a jug. That might not seem like a good thing, but it's a nice sound. Make's me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. proxlamus© Posted February 5, 2006 Share Posted February 5, 2006 I have a 3" downpipe and a 5' foot stretch of pipe out the back of the car which dumps a little after the differential... when the internal wastegate opens I can still hear it.. you guys are crazy if you can't hear the ext. wastegate open.. and it's venting in the atmosphere...!
