titanium
I'm buying Owens engine setup and I'm trying to get it shipped to the Minneapolis / St. Paul area. Shipping seems like its insainly expensive at most places, if any of you guys have a hookup or recommend a company please let us know. Thanks for any help

slownrusty
I shipped a complete engine using Yellow Freight for $130 from Colorado Springs, CO to Portland, OR which I thought was an awesome price. I got a skid palette for free tied the engine down making sure to block around the oil pan to prevent damage and trhen bought some cheap but fairly strong fabric tie downs from Harbor Freight Tools - easy! Tim240z
When you call to get quotes, don't rely on the phone voice service to provide you with a price, talk to a human. It is about 60% cheaper if the engine can be dropped at their dock and picked up from their dock at the receiving end. The residential lift gate service makes it very expensive....call lots of fright companies and also some freight consolidators.
titanium
Yellow wanted 700 bucks to move it which was insaine. I fond one place that said they'd do it for 280 and another that said 4-500.
mobythevan
maybe also try forward air (truck freight company). I use to ship arcade games and they only cost around $100 for a 500 pounds game. They only ship terminal to terminal, but saves some dollars.
Guest Phil1934
I shipped a Poncho 195 engine and a block/crank from Atlanta to Seattle. $291 and the receiver paid $65, not sure why, if they had to attempt twice or what. But co. had an account as cost before discount was shown to be about $800. I'd second road trip.
