A/C in my 260z w/sbc?

Recommended Posts

That's true awd92. But what do you do if you didn't have a/c to begin with? Tha Gen2 cost about 1200. I called VA and they pieced together a system for me. Mind you I had to fabricate the mounting brackets and the dash had to come out to do this. This was NOT a bolt in setup.

Why can't you just run the normal Chevy A/C bracket and compressor and hook it up to the datsun evaporator with custom hoses?

You can, I did. Am not totally pleased with the output but I kinda half a$$ed it also. My cooling system is not pulling enough air thru the rad so I wasn't getting the max potential but it does work and I expect with some greater knowledge than mine, could be made to work just fine.

It's hot in Houston also.

I have AC in my 280Z with the LS1. I am running the stock 280 components except for a special high efficiency Japanese Compressor. The original system is good to about 90°F and then it starts losing ground against the heat - UNLESS - you go through and thoroughly insulate the car. I just did that and now it holds to about 100°F - even if the car is thoroughly 'sun-soaked' from sitting out all afternoon under the Texas sun. Amazing what a little insulation can do.
