Unfortunately the Z more then qualifies as a 'ripoff' in the design catagory. I remember my dad test driving a SAAB Sonnett way back in 1972. I really liked the car and hoped that he would buy it because it looked so cool to me back then (I was 6 years old). He ended up buying a SAAB 99 instead...arg. ZR8ED
Hey I like it! I can see the Z in it yes, but I also see some Pantera with that front end, also some TVR inspirations.. (though by the age, it could be the other way around..not too sure) It just needs 400hp, some big flares, much wider tires, change the interior to black....oh...wait a tick....I'm starting to describe what I did to my Z! I've never seen or heard of that Saab before. I owned a late 80's 900 Sport that I loved. Best car in the snow I have ever witnessed!!! Even though it was a bit quirky looking... a real like or hate body style...I liked it..
Dan Juday
Sweet little Sonnett. The first gens looked even more like the Z. It had the same type of headlight buckets. And, BTW, the Saab came out before the Z so who copied who? The V4 was a shakey little tractor motor from what I've been told. I would agree that a motor swap would be in order! fl327
it looks like the rear of the opel gt, and a pantera front end to me. i like the z because it just has that bad ass look to it, and ive become very familiar with the platform and i like how they ride. that car is cool looking, will it do a doughnut? Guest SuperDave
I guess nobody remembers "Get Smart," where Maxwell Smart drove a Sonnett? That car is one of my all-time favorites.
Mike C
That must have been one of the later episodes, because his original wheels were a Sunbeam Tiger another of the original "Hybrids."
