grumpyvette
just some info your looking to spend $6000-$8000 plus on an engine here, thats getting into BIG BLOCK territory now all im suggesting here is step back and think thru your options, while having a 500hp-600HP sbc may be a good idea,BUT ITS CLOSE TO MAX, having a 600hp-700HP plus big block for a similar OR SLIGHTLY HIGHER cost with alot MORE GROWTH POTENTIAL IN THE FUTURE HAS ITS GOOD POINTS http://www.greenwoodchevy.com/engine17.htm http://www.sdpc2000.com/catalog/120/products/689/ZZ502-Base-Kit-Fully-Assembled-GM-Performance-Parts-Crate-Engine.htm http://www.theengineshop.com/prods_pages/108000.htm http://www.theengineshop.com/prods_pages/108061.htm YOU DON,T NEED TO GET CRAZY EITHER read this below http://maliburacing.com/patrick_budd_article.htm
gvincent
There asking $2000 for that 406, going on the grocery list of parts in the ad do you think it is a good deal? What questions should I ask besides to see receipts for everything? Cam specs?
Pyro
If you are going to build a stroker sbc, plan on getting the rotating assembly internally balanced so you can run the smaller 6 inch balancer and 153 tooth flywheel to clear the Z's engine compartment. gvincent
SO internal balancing is a must? I thought there were smaller fluid balancers that I could use?
Pyro
I think I have seen a smaller externally balanced damper but I haven't seen a 153 tooth, externally balanced flywheel or flexplate.
