innerware
Hey all. Well I am on my way with my jackstand racing car. I replaced the fuel pump today and it definately has fuel to the rail. I also have spark. And a lot of leaky fuel hoses. I am looking for people that have done the JSK fuel rail swap on a first gen NA L28. I will also see if my injectors are firing when they are pulled, which is my next step. I need to order new high pressure fuel line as no one around me has any for sale. And the Nissan dealer wants 44 dollars a foot for the stuff. MSA has it for 3 and change a foot. Unless anyone knows a place to get fuel line cheaper? What have you all done for the mounts for the JSK rail? And did you all use the stock fuel pressure regulator? Also, if I am in need of injectors, which I probably am. Do you recommend new or just get them rebuilt? I am not looking for a realy fast car yet. I'm mostly doing body work and getting it on the road. If so what is my best solution. I have searched too but I am in overload mode looking for stuff. And if I use braided line for my gas in and return lines, which my local performance place has for 7 bucks a foot and looks way cool, how do I use fittings on the rail and clamps on the hard line on the car? The guy at the performance parts place said I could just clamp them with regular hose clamps but that sounded funky. Thanks for all the help. Guest ON3GO
to run s.s braided line on the JSK rail all you need to do is get the correct -AN fittings for the rail and hose and thats it. dont use reg hose clamps on the fuel injector line that between the injectors and the rail.. use the nissan ones that came on the car.. MUCH better and seal alot better then reg ole hose clamps. go to autozone or any place like that and ask for fuel injector hose in the size you need.. its way stiff and strong, wont crack and etc. you can use that stuff for your fuel lines under the car too if you dont want to spend the money on the S.S. line. mike
datsunan
If you think the braided line is exspensive wait till you have to buy all the fittings! I must have spent $150+ on my fittings. Just to get the braided lines to attach to the rail it takes 4 fittings at a cost of $20 or so. I used 1/2" hard line from the diff foward and then braided as you see in the pics. Fuel filter in the front of the head into JSK out to Aeromotive FPR, back to cell. don't mean to discourage you just wanted to let you know its going to cost you. It was a big suprise to me how much it cost every time I went to the hot rod shop. check out Summitt Racing get a cataloge. Good luck. innerware
Thanks guys. Datsunan, nice car. Lots of chrome and polish. Ok so for now to just get it going I'll stick with plain ole black hose. Is there a way to clean my injectors? I think they are pretty gummed up from sitting 7 years dry. Soak em in a bucket of acetone or something? I pulled the rail and put little buckets under the injectors and cranked the engine with the distributer unhooked and got no fuel out the injectors (definately fuel at the rail). So I think they are either all shot or gummed up. Also where does one get a 3 watt test lamp to test my injector clips? My multimeter shows voltage but its hard to tell what amount since it pulses and is quick. And I read that a 9 volt battery will open an injector to test it to see if it works. Is this true? I think that is all. Thanks again, Kyle
slownrusty
WOW....Datsunan....you have now officially raised the bar to an unreachable level! WOW!!! Yasin
datsunan
I would soak them in carb cleaner and yes the 9 volt bat will work to open them.
ecp48
innerware, If you are not suffering from time constraints, try ebay. I acquired all of the materials for my connections, fittings, hose, etc. at a reasonable price. The regulator alone was about a 25.00 savings. The only pieces I still need are the hard line to braided hose adapters. Earl's Supply has them, but I haven't quite bit the bullet on buying retail good luck
innerware
Thanks guys. I found my hose at Kragen of all places for 13 bucks for 9 feet. Nissan is on crack. Can't believe that they wanted 40 bucks a foot. I will try the carb cleaner and a nine volt to open them up. The plintels are real nice looking and I think they were new when the head was rebuilt 40 K miles ago. That is 7 years of sitting and 40 K miles though. New Injectors though which I will probably buy soon as I am getting some extra funds, First question, Where is the best place to buy? MSA has them for like 55 a piece. Is that my best source? Where do they get them from? Second. I want to replace my fuel regulator too while I'm at it. Adjustable or static is fine but adjustable might be nice. Should I get it from Summit? And if so what pressure rating? Third, what gaudge fits the JSK rail (fuel pressure) Finally fourth, what did you all do for mounts on the JSK rail? Thanks again, you all are awesome, Kyle
nullbound
Where is the best place to buy? MSA has them for like 55 a piece. Is that my best source? Where do they get them from? definitely not msa or victoria british. try ebay. i just recently bought a complete set for $120. the sets you usually find there are used, but occasionally you will run across new ones. what gaudge fits the JSK rail (fuel pressure) any 1.5" fuel pressure gauge with 1/8" NPT fitting will fit. summit and jegs have them listed. http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=1597&prmenbr=361 what did you all do for mounts on the JSK rail? i bought a metal strip at home depot that i will be cutting and bending to fit. i have the jsk rail, too, but haven't installed it yet. still waiting on fittings and braided line... 24OZ
Good luck with it. I know Yasin, Datsunan's engine bay is unreal.. I dont think it can get any better and he is so modest about it too, which is nice.
