turbo questions (I know you're all excited)

Any word on selling the Holsets. I'm thinking of selling my Hy-35 and buying an HX with the divided housing. Norm

I replied to your PM, but if anyone else is wondering, no, no luck. We don't stock them, and it seems for us there is no such thing as a new replacement part. All the Cummins replacements are remanufactured, which in itself is not a problem, but they require a core charge. My buddy in parts tells me that I need an engine serial number to even look one up to get it drop shipped. He was going to talk to a friend at a dealer to see if there was a hook up, but no word yet....

viable option here guys.. brand new...

i have a brand new never operated HX35w that i was storing as an upgrade project for down the line' date=' i'd be tempted to sell it for $500 or more, cost me $738 originally, this is the 12cm compressor housing model.

i also already have all the spacers, cnc'd v-band, and v-band clamp that i could include for a little more (basically i'll charge what i paid, no markup) all you'd need to do is extend your studs, re-route your oil in and out, and adapt your downpipe...

if you want photos or to know more just drop me a PM and whatnot... i think this HY35 will last me long enough that i can sell this HX.[/quote']

also, Ive seen some T4 (t04?) turbos on some old *** Volvo and Mercedes turbo deisel egines.

Didnt ford turbocoupes and SVO's with manual transmissions come with T3 super 60's? wouldnt that be an upgrade for the stock 280ZX t3?

interesting info on the holsets. Im a BIG fan of junkyard engineering, lol!

some thunderbirds came w/ a 60/63 t3... popular upgrade for volvo guys... thats not a very big step from a stock ZXT turbo though...

I would be interested' date=' but I think the 12cm wheel is a little big for what I am planing, I don't quite have the lofty goals some on here do, and I am looking or reasonable driveability. Anyone who has done it have input ?

i'm still learning turbo tech 101 myself, but i can put it this way, the 12cm holset HX35w is a regular big turbo upgrade for volvos. and last i checked there 2.3l motors spooled these by 3500rpm, so w/ the added displacement and exhaust gas of a 2.8, that should lower the spool limit even further.

make no mistake, this won't be a turbo that you can punch it in a corner and have instant boost, but its also no where near the lag you see in supras that run bigger turbo's and the like, nothing that extream.
