Hey everybody. I'm 16 years old, have a fair amount of experience with cars (mainly Ford). My dad and I have restored a 67' Mustang Convertible with a lot of modifications and a 56' Ford F100 panel truck. Basically, I'm looking for a 240Z. My budget is obviously pretty low but I wan't to get one, restore it, and mod it. My main problem is I can't find anything anywhere for under $5k. I live in the Washington DC area and the only one I could find was one with no floor, at all, and a random 4 inch hole straight through the engine block... Help would be appriciated.

transport one from a dry state. new mexico, arizona, california, ect.

better chance of getting a 90% rust free z car, in driving condition.

that should be within you 5 grand budget.

i have heard there are decent z cars in FLA as well. again, with a 5 grand budget, you can rent a car, drive down, check out the z, rent a truck and dolly, tow it home.

that is the route i would go.

i have been told that the best way to get an older car of any type in a snow state is to buy a project car that has been dead in someone's garage for the past 20 years.

happy hunting !

Yea, I'd try to find one from a dry state. There are quite a few Z cars in CA that sell for under 3k that are in fairly nice shape. I plane to save up around 6k and buy one that's already got some mods to the suspension & a solid reliable engine, so I don't have to worry about dumping money into it right away.

There's tons of them out there, just gotta hunt.

And like wayne said, happy hunting.

You'd be Surprised at how many clean, unrusted Zcars there are out here on the right coast... Just not North of Maryland.

Check http://www.autotrader.com as well as the local craiglist for the DC and Richmond areas. I'd think your best bet would be in central and southern Virginia or in North Carolina and further south. Also, keep an eye on Ebay. I've seen a number of Zcars on Ebay that were within an hour or two of my house in Fredericksburg.
