gexgexgexgex
My budy is getting his z running and he has a l28et with megasquirt and is using the stock injectors. He has everything for it to run but the flyback board or resistor pack for the stock low impedance injectors. Can he run with out it but keep driving low like 30 mins or less. Or is it very bad to run with out resistors. finally he wants this car running tommorrow, can we make a "radio shack" resistor pack. any info would help thanks
evildky
I ran mine just testing and tuning around the block for a week or so without the resistors before making an resistor pack, your just overpowering them and will shorten their lives, they could fail tomorrow or 10 years from now
gexgexgexgex
i found this, would it work for home-made resistors "If your injectors are paired up and you want to use resistors, use 4 of 15ohm, 5 watt resistors in parallel for each pair of injectors, should be about 1.2 amps, which is fine. If you use the flyback board, don't worry about the resistors."
midnightzxt
I'm not sure but I think you can also use the PWM feature in the constants section if you don't want resistors. If you use resistors then the PWM section is null and void. Read up on that in the megamanual under both tuning and injectors
z-ya
Yes, you can build your own resistor pack from standard power resistors. 5 Ohm, 5watt should work fine. Radio Shack probably has them. If not, DigiKey certainly does. On mine I used power resistors in a TO220 package, which basically means they have a metal tab you can attach to a heatsink. I mounted them to an aluminum plate under the relay board. I have the PWM feaqture turned off. I have driven all 6 six injectors off one output with sucess. Xander
technically 5 watt resistors will not last because they have a load of more than 10 watts on them. use 25 watts resistors as sugested in the MS manual. or even better, use the stock dropping resistors from a l28e.
