EvilC
Ok I am going to keep this one short.....its has been asked 1000's of times here on the site but I can't find an answer to my needs. I need a roll cage for my 240 and I want to know which kit is the best to purchase for a street car? I am having someone weld it in for me.....I just need the best complete kit with lil mods to make it work. Thanks guys.
VRJoe
S&W has a good kit, I got one from them and modified it to fit the way I wanted. Here's a link :S&W Racing - Joe
EvilC
Is the 10-point cage to much for a street car?
Phantom
Go to www.zcarparts.com and look at what they have. I know they carry an auto power 4-point roll bar that bolts to the rear fender wells which is sufficient for the occaisional week-end warrior stuff until you go full wheel to wheel in SCCA or under 11 seconds on the 1/4 mile track. EvilC
Thanks Phantom and VRJoe. I think I am going to go with cage because I do intend on having the car run sub 11 secs runs "oneday" of course not when I first get it on the road. Also I do not want to do things twice cause I am a poor college student . With that said I have to choose between the 8 or 10 point cage. I think I may just go with the 8-point cage. If you can give me a really good reason why I shouldnt, my ears are wide open. I am here to learn. Thanks again.
JMortensen
Here's my reason why you shouldn't: your head! Search and you'll find many arguments for and against cages in street driven Z's. I'm generally opposed to the cage. Roll bar fine, cage not good.
katman
I'd wait until your racing and the rules force you into a cage, otherwise you're just dragging along another 100# of high CG weight around on a street car.
EvilC
I understand what you mean about my head and the roll cage. When I say street driven car it really means only 1 or 2 nights out the week. So i have gone with the auto power 8-point rollcage. I hope to be placing the order later this week after I finalize this is my head and on paper. So lets see what happens....

peej410
having seen and installed a few prefab kits id consider custom if its in your budget, im in CT and i built my cage from scratch, PM me if you have any specific questions or if your interested in having me build you one. i used a low front hoop style cage, because my car will be primarily a street car. EvilC
So I went with the bolt in 6 point cage. It should be here next week, so I hope it fits well and I will post pictures as soon as I learn how to. Thanks for the input from everyone.
