cyrus
What size turbo piping does one use for a given horsepower?
myplasticegg
all depends on your setup, in the turbo dodge world many guys get 250-300whp out of 2.2L 4cyl's with 2.5" piping connected together with truck radiatior hose. (ghetto, but it works) I'm sure if you list what you are shooting for you can be helped more.
Bernardd
I currently have 2" pipe in my I/C setup and at 19psi I lose 2 psi. I don't see the benefit of running huge piping when the turbo outlet is 2" and the tb is similar. I know there are others on the board that have dyno'd over 400rwhp with 2". All the same I'm changing mine 2.5 this winter because I'm planning on running well over 20psi next year. Bernard
Sparky
many years ago I asked this same question and several people posted with the necessary formulas, unfortunately though, I can not find that post and have long since forgot the formulas. I think it was Dr. James T that posted them, maybe he will see this and be able to post it again. EDIT: duh! I set my goal at around 300HP and it was suggested through math that 2.25 was more than adequate. thats what I went with but have yet to put any real time on the car....sorry but thats all the info I can provide. Scottie-GNZ
I agree with what 240Z Turbo had to say. It depends on how much HP you are planning and I would say for most L28ETs, 2.25 will work. As a point of reference, I run 2.5" for well over 500rwhp and do not feel it is hurting the top-end as the car gains 27-28mph in the 2nd half. That is a good indicator the engine is not losing power in the top-end.
