kj280z
Hey all, Here's a picture ... yes it will be tight but it will fit... All the info and links to my engine swap website are located here: http://flzclub.com/forum/showthread.php?p=907#post907 Feel free to post away Ken
mtcookson
whoa... is the starter under the intake manifold?? going by the pictures on your site that's the way it looks if so, i'd hope those things would never go out. (after looking at more of the page it does appear the starter is there but you mentioned you'll probably be leaving that off. if you use the TTZ tranny you can just use the TTZ starter (actually you'll most likely have to use it)) that's going to be one badass car when its done. i couldn't imagine one of those with boost. kj280z
Yes that's the location of the starter, but really it's not too bad, even with all the OEM stuff on it, I had the intake removed in 20 minutes. I'm making a custom intake manifold for it and also a custom transmission adapter, so there's a possibility that I may relocate the starter if it is feasible. Ford Falcon
G'day kjones. It looks like a clean install. Very cool! Can you tell me where you had the adapter plate fabbed to connect the Z32 transmission to the motor? I'd love to do something like this to my Z31. kj280z
I'm working on a few different things right now. I just purchased a bellhousing off of the Titan Automatic tranny, it will be here next week. Give me a little time and I'll share what I came up with and post it here
Oleh
^ you planning on taking the limiter of ? it sucks that it only goes up to like 114mph.
ARGAMEMENON
If you plan to open the motor up I'd be down for some head/block deck shots. Heres an intake manifold were doing for our 1UZ. It will use twin TB's
kj280z
Engine mods will include custom headers, custom intake, and cams. I'm not using the stock ECU so no speed limiter to deal with... Using an aftermarket engine management (Haltech or Electromotive)
ARGAMEMENON
props to you for being one of the first to swap this motor. keep us updated
AdrianZ
where did you find this motor i can't get one anywhere
kj280z
I got it out of a Armada that was rolled after 150 miles! it's brand new! I paid $3000 I have since stripped the motor of all the stuff that will not be needed for the project (power steering, wiring harness, manifolds (making custom stuff), and lot's more...). I wonder what they'll bring on ebay? We'll see soon. My guestimate is that I should be able to get $500 - $700 for the extras which will be nice to reduce the cost of the motor. There is a LOT of extra stuff that came with it.
BrandonsZ
What happened to the rest of the car?
kj280z
The motor was being fitted into a parts car in the pictures. I cut off the front for easy access and measuring... Much better than putting it in and out of my newly painted engine compartment.
fastzcars
I was wondering when someone here would do this swap. Good goin.
dat240zg
Ken: Just curious. Did you consider the 5 spd auto tranny from the Armada? My Titan shifts just about as smoothly and always seems to be in the correct gear. What's the breaking point for the TT 5 spd? Will it stand up to the added torque of the V8 w/supercharger? I'm watching your swap with a lot of interest. This is pretty high up on my list of wishes.... Bryan Dat240zg
karay240
I'm not sure if you're going w/ the auto, but if you're wanting to go 6sp, I have a buddy mating the 350Z 6sp w/ an adapter plate etc. for a V8 350Z. It's still in the making, but it's underway. If you're interested, give me a call @ the shop.
