Andrew Bayley
I'll be up in C-ville this weekend, most likely will go to Brother's (aka Sportsman) on Saturday night with the old man (it's a tradition for him). Maybe cruise down to Nasty Hatchet for a little cruising afterwards in the Impala. Next weekend will be a stretch, probably more like mid - late July. Andrew Bayley
Back pedaling!!! Yeah, that's what it's going to look like that old 6 banger will be doing at the lights! Got a four day weekend coming up here. Plenty of time to finialize things. Besides, something about 95 degree air temps (with +80% humidity) and dead calm winds that tend to draw me out onto the lake... rather than into the garage. Set a new speed record (for the boat) ironically on the worse conditional day of the year: 88.1 mph on GPS. The new props really paid off. 90 mph should be no problem with less heat and humidity. -A
Lockjaw
Hey, have you ever heard of a "sit and spin"? Thats what a V-8 Datsun is. Scotty, just throw down and get a big intercooler and be done with it. Check here http://www.roadraceengineering.com/intercoolers.htm Cheap, and surely you can find one that will work for you. I would hate for you to be winning and blow off the end tank and lose, especially after all that BACKPEDALING!!!!
Andrew Bayley
Hey, I'm sensing some double teaming going on here!!! Where are my "Detroit Iron" boys to back me up?
johnc
Aaahhhhhh, the bravado of the straight line guys. Luckily you usually have good brakes so you can slow way down when a corner come into view. Don't want to scare yourselves...
scottyMIz
it's good to have another inliner on my side I'll have to get a hold of tim today and see if he is up for getting a new ic so i can buy his.The volvo one just isn't made for what i'm doing to it Oh well i knew i'd have to get a better one someday just not this soon. But i'll even race you with my bad ic and still whoop you Then we can head to the lake and chill i'd be happy going like 60 in the bost you don't have to go 88 mph I know what is under the water in our lakes lots of big rocks and i'd like to not hit one.Not that i don't trust you andy but i love life
Andrew Bayley
Come on, I've been boating in these waters all my life. Don't you trust me?!? Anyone know what that big lighthouse is for, just outside Port Austin Harbor? Seriously though, I saw some guy cut between the lighthouse and the shore with a 50 foot performance cruiser. He was about a mile offshore, but in about a foot of water. Coast Gaurd had to heli-lift all the passengers off the boat before it was "salvaged" for roughly $50K. The guy must have owned an in-liner! John, I like your comment! The word "Boy Scout" comes to mind. -A
scottyMIz
i'm sure if he was stupid enuf to run in a foot of water he must have owned a V8 Naw i trust you even tho you own a V8 when the L28et is just a better motor, I just know how many rocks are out there i've been in these waters all my life too If you do plan to go fast would you at least run a little bit out before peeling me to the seat? Guest Anonymous
Don't worry Andy, the detroit iron people have your back covered, in the unlikely event that he beat's you, we'll have to dispatch someone in the area to slap him silly... Andrew Bayley
I'm working on it, I'm working on it!!! A TRUE Hybrid has more than a K&N with a 3" fart pipe! This, of course, means more work for those who wish to reap the rewards. -A
scottyMIz
FART PIPE!!!!! oh man no you didn't nerve You know there is NO rice on my car.... them's fighting words You better be prepared to have your two cylinders handed to you cuz that's all they will be good for Are you actually gonna be able to get that "thing" out here?Is it gonna make it?Everyone knows how unreliable those V8's are
fl327
just do it already, cheapest racing you can do is bench race, run em already, turbo vs. V8 that should be pretty cool, from what andy posts on his site he runs 11's on the bottle, are you ready to run an 11 scotty? im not trying to get anyone in trouble im interested in hearing what happens though, hey scotty i might need some more help from you in days to come, seems like youre pretty good at making power fairly cheap out of the L motor, which is my next project. Guest zfan
Alright Guys, line em up and let's get to spankin it Good luck to all and most of all keep all fours on the road! Oh and results PLEASE! Mike
Guest Anonymous
C'mon scotty, show em who's got more inches where they count! Long Live The L28ET! -980mak
scottyMIz
if he doesn't backpedal again it'll be this weekend. But if i know andy he will come with a big book of excuses FL327 i'll be more than happy to help when you need it.I am sure i will git at least high 11's with the old girl but it might not be till i get the slicks on her.I don't think the diff mount and drievshaft will handle a shock like slicks yet.So i'll be making my run on street tires then maybe get the slicks out.I plan to have them mounted and balanced waiting to go on the car just in case andy makes me mad
Guest Anonymous
Scotty, what trans/rearend/tire combo did you make your 11s run with the old setup? Are you using the turbo driveshaft w/ cv's or what? I really wish I could be there, heh.. its only 2000 miles away. Bring a cam get get the glory on tape
