az240z
I have checked everything I can think of and it appears that the injectors are not firing. I think it is the condensor and am wondering if there is any way to by pass it. If you look at the following wiring diagramhttp://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker?ForwardPage=/az/cds/en_us/0900823d/80/1d/1d/80/0900823d801d1d80.jsp. Go to #33.You see where a bw wire comes from the igc and goes to the condensor and then goes to the distributor. I tried to by pass the condensor and hooked the bw directly to the distributor but all this does is burn up the wire and a fuse link. I beleive that this is the problem and am wondering what else I could do or does anyone have one of the condensors. You can see one here.http://img241.imageshack.us/img241/5214/pb0500201xm.jpg thanks for your help az240z
GrayZee
It will run without the condenser. Not sure, but I think it's only purpose is to silence the electrical noise that you would pick up through your radio.
jeffp
The fact that it doesn't burn up the wire and fuse link when the cap is in the circuit, tells you the cap is good. You can run without it. The injectors have a brown fuse link, check that. Check that you have voltage to the perspective ECU wires from the injectors. Also fo a quick check, since it is a turbo, remove the distributor and turn it, you should hear the injectors click, if not then either the ECU is bad, the distributor is bad, or you have an open fuse link. hope that helps. kalium99
Definately get an injector pulsar. Another tip, unlug all our spark plugs and put a portable fluro light just under the plug holes, and then turn your engine over. You should see fuel being spat out. If you see no fuel then your injectors are not firing. Also, get some starter fluid (not sure what they call it in the states, but its the stuffin a pressurised can you use to squirt into your intake to get it to start first thing in the morning). Squirt this stuff into the intake while you have someone crank it over. It should start/sputter/something. If it doesnt, check your timing. I wouldnt rely on being able to hear the injectors click just by standing back and turning the engine. The L series can be quite noisy. Like I said previously, use a long screwdriver. I went through this whole ordeal with an L24 ECU. From looking at your diagram it seems your ECU/Wiring is more complex. Can someone confirm that these ECU's use a earth switch from the coil/distributor to the ECU to switch the Injectors ? If this is the case find out where the wire goes to the ECU. Stick a testing pen on this wire , and clip it onto a + source. It should flicker. If it doesnt, it isnt being switched and injectors will never open. Also, pull one of the boots off an injector connector and make sure that both the connectors have power going to them. If they don't, trace the lines back... And you shouldnt need the condensor. If you have wires burning up it sounds like you could have a short...wires should not burn up. And yes, make sure you have fresh fuel. You will be suprised how much of a difference it can make. Sorry I cant be more specific, but like I said, I am not throughly familiar with your type of ECU (and you would be suprised how often/how much they changed wiring between year models). az240z
Thanks for all the replies. Will see if Pep Boys carries the injector pulser. Also will try to run down the wiring coming from the ECU. az240z
az240z
Couldn't fined the injector pulser but I am thinking that the distributor is bad. Hooked everything back up and still won't start. There is still no pulsing from the injector plug. I tried the starter fluid but had the same result. I checked all the ground for the injectors [per the fm] and they were good. The thing that scares me is when I put the new distributor in will it burn up? Well I guess I will be checking ebay for an 82 or 83 turbo distibutor. az240z PS: Just want say thanks for all your help and have a Happy Thanksgiving. evildky
with the key in the run postiion if you pull the dist and turn it by hand you should be able to hear the injectors and injector relay click, and you should be able to get a spark from the ciol, if not then either your not getting power somewhere or your dist, or ignitor or ecu is bad, most likely it's a wiring issue, unfortunately you need an analog multimeter or a smart probe to detect the low volt square wave signal that the injectors and ignitor should be getting
