toecutter
Hi Guys, I've got some 17x8.5" wheels and would like to fit a 225x45 tyre on the wheel. I tried at one place and they said they would have to use a 235x45 seeing the 225x45 is too narrow to fit. I have since heard mixed reports. I do want the stretched look seeing I have 255x40 on a 17x9.5" on the rear. Looks great. Can anybody here give me any information on the 225x45 and 17x8.5 combo! Thanks Sulio
zguitar71
Most places will probably say the wheel is too wide for the tire. Shop around and you will find a shop that will mount a 225. Tire companies have max and min widths for the wheel size for any specific tire size. Tire shops do not want to stray from those guidlines due to liability issues. mark
I've ran a 225 on my 17x9's by so I know it will fit on the 8.5 wheels. It will be streched a bit.
2126
I'm running 215-40 x 17 on the front, on 8" wide wheels and all is well! Your tire/wheel combo should be fine. I just wish the tire companies, other than NITTO, would produce 225-40 x 17.
