ratedZ
I know the wheels are turnin and knowing the hybrid community, there's already plans going on as I type. It would be interesting...
auxilary
It would have to come down in price quite a bit, I don't think anyone wants to shell out 27k just to swap in an SBC for the weight, cost, and motor one can snag a z28 that will weigh 400lbs more, but will already have an LS1 in it with a t56 for less money too
BayAreaZT
I'm thinking the other way around. I would like to get a hold of a 350Z engine and tranny and swap that into my '71. I can see that happening in a few years when used engines become available.
Mike kZ
I guess it would have to be a 350ci Chevy! By the way, why did they call it a 350Z? 340Z would have sounded cooler.
jeromio
Used engines are available now. They put that VQ in pretty much every car and truck they sell . Oh, and 340Z doesn't make sense. 240Z -> 2.4L 260Z -> 2.6L 280Z/ZX-> 2.8L 300ZX -> 3.0L 350Z -> 3.5L
ratedZ
Isn't the 350 the engine size? Like the 280zx had 2.8 motors...maybe some one could correct me if I'm wrong. I think that in a few years when motors are more available, this swap will be a hot topic in here...
ratedZ
hehe you beat me to it jeromio, so I guess I was right

Guest Zpeed
id be more looking at the 350z engine into a 260z, as soon as i can find a wrecked 350z, which i would think would be pretty fast in japan, prolly got for around AU$8g thats how much the Rb26dett's went for when they first came out. randy 77zt
my girlfriend has a 2000 maxima with same engine rated at 220 hp.no timing belts-cams are chain driven.engine has a electric smoothness to it plus ferrari like growl at higher revs.a stock 350z engine in an early 240 would probably be a low 13 or high12 car that gets 30 mpg.not a hot rod but a very good daily driver. biohzrd
actually shouldn't have been the 320z. if you go by the past numbering 240,260,280,300..... it jumps in spreads of 20. 350z sounds like it should have a sbc 350 in it
fl327
shoulda put an rb in that sucker.
Phantom
Latest rumor is that Nissan is planning a 450Z. Same car but using the Infinity 4.5 liter V-8 with around 400 HP. Around 2005.
Sumo
The V-8 rumor might be true for Nissan because Toyota is planning for a an 8 cylinder Supra using the 4.3 Lexus engine. Then again these are both rumors.
clint78z
It does have notable differences, like direct injection whic varies the the injector angle. Meaning more power, better milage, and emmisions. This is a pretty big step up in combustion technology.
Guest Anonymous
If Nissan does make the 450Z then I hope they steal some lines from the Ferrari 365 Daytona.
Guest Anonymous
Actually its not going to be called the 450z it is just labeled Nissan GTR...its in the works as a concept right now and probly wont make it over here till late 2005...as for the motor it is allegedly the infiniti 4.5 motor destroked to 4.0 but revs ALOT higher and HP at least 400...Just my .02 from research, thanx to NISMO
Guest Anonymous
id rather put a VR6 GTI from a VW in the 240z than the new Z's setup. it is prettier, hehe
BayAreaZT
The GTR is not a Z. It's the next generation R35 Skyline GTR.
