Holy S*&T! He has more time and money in his wiring harness alone than I have in my entire swap! Double insulated aircraft grade! WOW! Anyone can swap a big motor into a small car (If I can do it, anyone can!), but that car is definitely a work of art, and a labor of love. And he did it without a sponsor!

Just a couple of point:

The moulds are safe and well up in my loft, it was the pattern that I broke up.

The blowers are screw type compressors, completely different to roots. They are the same design as the Whipple units

I used to subscribe to KitCar magazine, and there were some pretty wild kits for the 914 Porsches.. as well as some V8 swaps for 911's.. Yep 911's.

I was very interested in the 914.. not too pricey, lots of potential.. I never cared for the style, but some of the body kits were pretty nice.

I like the looks of that v8914 I don't care for the snorkle, but to each his own.. He sounds like the kind of guy who does something just because he wants to.. hmm theres that ol "form over function" thing again. hehehe.

I dunno about that car. The bodywork is very nice. That big scoop on top though - not for me.

And the idea of dual roots blowers. That doesn't make any sense to me. Roots blowers are pretty bad, effiency-wise. So 2 of them - that just can't be the best way to get power. Why not a centrifigal blower? I bet one Procharge could produce as much boost as both of those roots units.

Here's my idea of a 914:

Apparently pretty low-buck too.

I have just finished a series of rolling road sessions, which were hampered by ignition problems. I have found the source of the problem now, but have not been back for a final run. The output is around a very disappointing 500bhp. Although the bowers are very efficient and make max boost at low rpm they are quite simply too small. I can only make around 7psi of boost.

Don’t get me wrong its like driving around with a bomb behind you.

I have a target output of around 800bhp. I plan to achieve this by fitting a larger pair of Whipple blowers that are 2.3 times the capacity. I will run the car next session in its current configuration and start phase two next year. That’s the plan anyway.

As for my job, I am an applications engineer for a machine tool company.

Yup, WAY over the top and VERY well done. That's what I'd call a Hobby Car smile.gif Small enough to really take apart and build the way you want it - like a Z actually. I happen to really like the 914 and the little Lotus - not sure what model that was but I like it too. I've seen a souped up 914 here locally awhile ago, light as a feather, big brakes, fast Porsche motor. To drool for smile.gif A V8 would be just nasty! Have you considereda turbo rather than the Whipples?
