240zV8
Hey guys, i'm onto my next preject. I've been distracted by motocycle's for a few years, but it's time to do my dream. I'm getting a 73' 240z that runs good for $900. Of course the engine is coming out and sold (great engine but i don't love it like i love the 350). I'm not very familiar with the options of engine/transmission's that work in Z's, or more specifially, i want to know if the idea i have will work. Here's what i was hoping to do (if u guys say it will work). Get the 73' 240Z, and than buy a good running 1988 chevy 1500 pickup with a 350 for like $1000, so i know the engine runs good and trans works good. (i'm not looking to race, i just want a nice powerful street driver to play with). So if i get a pickup like that with a basic 350 and whatever trans come's in those trucks, can i just take the engine and trans straight out and swap that in the Z with the JTR or scarab mounting kits, driveshaft flange, new radiator/fan/headers and make it work with that stuff? And after that, i have another question of the different mounting setup's scarab vs JTR msa. Pro's con's, which way is easier for a somewhat newbie to engine swaps. (i did one, but i was just a sidekick, well basically watching other than helping push the engine hoist) I'm going to get the JTR manual, because the search button here seemed to pop that up alot...lol....I hope i'll be here for awhile learning from you guys...Thanks for the help. jbk240z
"search" not to be rude but this question has been answered numerous times. Your swap idea is fgairly simple, go 4 it! Good Luck!!!

I suggest you keep reading and searching the forum for "JTR" and "Scarab" and then make your choice. The JTR book will certainly give you a great outline on what's expected and the basic knowledge/instruction to do the swap. Reading that cover to cover is the first step in either choice of swap methods. Good luck! Davy

Phantom
Yeah - Mike - but there's always the compromise of a carburated LS!!!! Oops - if I've hijacked the thread I;'m sorry. No, not really.
240zV8
Most importantly i just wanted to make sure the tranny that comes in those CK1500 trucks will fit right in the Z with the driveshaft adapter in that JTR kit. I should have known to use the search button more, my bad, but i got to anxious...lol..
