Guest Anonymous
It's almost time boys (and girls...???) to consider the process of tubbing the rear wheel wells but before the plasma cutter gets broken out (yeah right...I'd love one though) I need to get some discussion going on a couple things. First off I better explain what tires and wheels I'm going to use...I'm seriously considering going with 345-35-ZR15's in the rear mounted on 15x12 rims. This would give me a tire diameter of 24.5" which will tuck under there well if I get the rear end smushed in enough. How many inches do the wells need to go inward? I'm thinking that 2" on each side will do it but this might be optimistic at best. I am going to move all suspension points in by an equal amount so the geometry will be uneffected. I'd like to not have to flair the fenders if possible. Just for everybody's peace of mind..345mm is 13.6", sidewall height is 4.75". This should help out with the figuring. I'm going with IRS so the least amount of tubbing would be best. Thanks!!! Mike kZ
For 295-50-15s on 10 inch rims I tubbed the wheel wells 4" per side. That gave me 3/4" to the lip, and 1" to the frame.
Mikelly
Running 265-50-15s and I flared mine 3 inches and can fit 285s on. Spenc, are you looking at the Yokohama AVS series tires??? Thats what I'm gonna run, and you quote some sizes they offer... just curious. BTW, I had to cut the inner fender away on the rear when it was flared.
