boate
Hey everyone, Sooo....I have been lurking around this website for over 2 years now and finally decided that it was time to become a contributing member of this excellent forum. This website has provided me with invaluable information - from when I first knew that the Z-series Datsun was the car for me - to when it was time to finally buy a Z - to recently when looking into the best way to upgrade each system of my car - www.hybridz.org is quite possibly the best thing that has ever happened to me. So thanks to all you guys who have made my life infinitely easier, efficient and fun! This past January, I purchased a 240z from Projectrb240sx and since have fallen madly in love with my car. The car is a '72 with a '93 sr20det and currently is putting down 232whp and 213 lb/ft. It is insanely fun to drive as it is, and cannot wait to continue to tune the car. I am sure that Alex from Vildini can supply more info about the history of the car, as it was one of their firsts, but I am very proud to be both the driver of such a vehicle and a member of this forum. So thanks to everyone once again and I look foward to your insight and help in the future. Boate'

boate
Well I'm eager to get out there in the car at any chance I get. Really had a lot of fun at the MSA auto-x event, so hopefully can run in some upcoming solo II's, and maybe some HPDE track days through NASA. Also wouldn't mind attending a Drift Day or two to try to throw her sideways a bit. It's always a treat getting to see your guys' cars and can't wait to see what you guys run in the new car. Have you run the silver car on the current set-up?? I need to get out there at some point to see what my car can do as well. Once again though, wanted to say that I love the car, and that guys at Vildini did an excellent job with it. Thanks!
True School 240Z
So Boate, Is your car white? I think I've seen it before. I'm another of the Vildini customers. I have the blue '73 with the pantera hatch. Alex, if you really are heading up to Palmdale let me know, I still need to time my car. -Scatter

Shift
Hey SR240Z, I read somewhere that you are running a R180 diff with a 2 way lsd. Besides the fact that you have a lsd with it, do you recommend going with a r200 diff with a 4 cylindar swap, or would you say stay with the r180 and save some trouble and just not deal with it? SR240Z
unless you are going to be giving the car some hard launches on slicks or drag radials there is really no point to go with the r200 and CV axles.
Guest PROJECTRB240SX
Glad To See You Are Taking The Car To A New Level... I Sure Regret Ever Selling The Thing, I Miss The Car Everyday (since I Get To Hop In My Pos Mazdaspeed Protogay!). Good Luck On The Car, Hey I Have A Spare Set Of Struts, R200 3.90 Diff And Mount Set, And 300zx Wheels If You Want Them. Have No Use For Them And The Original Person Who Wanted Them Never Came And Got Them.
Garrett76Zt
unless you are going to be giving the car some hard launches on slicks or drag radials there is really no point to go with the r200 and CV axles. Certainly every car is a bit different Alex, but i broke stock halfshafts on street tires when my car was running high 13's . . .
240hoke
me too , and cv axles are soooo much quieter and nicer.
SR240Z
508whp later and still no broken axles... yet
240hoke
arent you on r180 and maxima cv axles or whatever, or was that jsut quoc that switched over? But on a side note you are also running 225 tires and dont ever drag the car...
SR240Z
nope, were on an r180 4.375 and u-joint axles. We did also run 225 R-compound tires for autox and was launching the car and no issues whatsoever.
Airjockie
LSD or Open diff?
SR240Z
LSD of course, open diff and 500 whp + would not be a good combination
Hugh
LSD of course, open diff and 500 whp + would not be a good combination I'll say... 250hp and open diff = crap already.
Lewis Maudlin
350 + open diff = crap too
Garrett76Zt
I'll get around to an LSD one of these days, but so far the car is in the 11's with about 400hp and pullin 1.7 60's on an open 3.54. But I understand ya'll are trying to turn, hehe.
Airjockie
well, I was wondering what limits an open can take, or a welded one. I have a Nismo R-180 4.11 2 way lsd in my NA car, but I was wanting to boost it down the road and I'm not to fond of upgrading to the R200 yet, but I have the R200 LSD in the boosted Z now as well, but I have no idea on how many miles are on it or how the upkeep was on it.
