  1. looks like he has another one..... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-GARRETT-TURBO_W0QQitemZ140341821138QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item20ad063ed2&_trksid=p3911.c0.m14
  2. BEFORE After Old Red...you will be missed...
  3. I'll have to take fresher pics of what I found today......the tunel has cancer, the full front end is held together with the body panels... If some one wants it...it's theirs...just come pick it up....
  4. Just thought I'd share a little...lurker here for a while... As of 9:35 am today, I have decided to pull the plug on my little baby... It lived a respectable life...was rebuilt, pampered, abused, played with, went thru 3 transplants, and had a collection of shoes that would make any woman jealous. Just as another transplant was getting lined up, something with more power, more speed, and a full new look, cancer was found. The pre-op looked recoverable, but after looking deeper into the hidden areas, more cancer was found... The passivation is terminal, the hydrated iron oxides was just to much for the frail 70's era Japanese metals that the patient was equipped with. With the failing corroded wires, and the constant dying on the road, and the track, it was trying to tell me that it didn't want to carry me and the wife anymore safely...and that it didn't have the strength to withstand a bigger powerplant... It's sole survivor, which is the same year and make, shall receive the full organs that were the patient has donated, and shall have more of a chance to live on for a few more years, since the same cancer is only in the pimple (puberty) stage compared to the the deceased. Old Red Z, you will be missed.... Old Red...you will be missed...
  5. And I was going to buy it...but I already have two... but go look at some of the stuff I have on CTZCC in the for sale area....
  6. I have an R34 Neo RB25DET, not sure if it's an early one or a late one, but is there a way to find out if I need the crankshaft mod done without taking the oil pump off?
  7. I kinda gave up on it and got another Z... http://www.redpepperracing.com/gallery/v/airjockie/another260Z/
  8. I still got it. I can't decide a decent price. I'm not even sure if these might be a rare item nowadays or not. I haven't seen to many of them though.
  9. I'm giving up....for now. I connected everything up, and I guess the dizzy doesn't have enough juice to trigger the msd. I'm just going to yank the carbs, exhaust, and header off the car, and sell them. Then pull the motor out and everything else off the car and prep it for a major over haul in the winter. Time to invest into the painless wire kit, and find a guy to sandblast the shell.
  10. about to hook it up today, and I don't want to pop anything...what I am thinking, is this wire arrangement. Black-ground red-acc fuse green-msd white wire? white-not used?
  11. I have a near mint hooker competition header, and the twice pipes to match it with the 4 mini cherry bombs on them. They have aged a little since the pic...and they sound loud as hell on the car. Too loud...that the wife doen't want to ride with me anymore... So I guess I'll toss in the turbo motor and the quiet exhaust, and sell these to a guy that coming to look at them today. But I need to know what a fair price would be for them. sorry for the large pic, but a link to it. http://hondaswap.com/attachments/968d1159030209-dual_header_exhaust_1.5.jpg
  12. well, the spare dizzy I have has red, green, white, and black wires.... the MS list's b/w, gb, gy, and black.... but I'll try to figure it out. also, I searched, found once on the quick way to pull the pump and align the dizzy shaft and oil pump, but now I can't find that write up... back to searching. Does the oil pump also needs to be swapped?
  13. welp...now I'm, screwed. I was playing around with it today, pulled up an actual wire dai, and went to work trying different things... and two wire rested next to each other...and the next thing I know...there is a poof of smoking coming from the dizzy cap. I fried the crane cams optical sensor... so now I have to either pop off the oil pump, change the dizzy shaft and start playing with the ZXT dizzy and start re-wiring everything again... or find a dizzy that slips right onto the 280Z engine and is MSD trigger happy. Third option is to just give up on the car for the summer, and set it aside for a full winter rebuild. I got 3 other cars to play with... an 87 CRX, another 260Z, and an 88 200sx... anyone have something cheap that will work...I'll have a decent paycheck thursday.
  14. progress.... I started hooking up a used MSD 6A, got to the point to where I needed a signal for it to fire...so I'm going to bypass all the old incar transitors and relays, and try to hook it directly up to the old dizzy, that has an old XR700 optical sensor already installed and the points removed. It was the dizzy that was running previously in the car with the Alison box, which is just the older version of the crane cams XR700. No pertronix stuff anywhere. So now to hook it up...the optical sensor just didn't have the juice to signal the MDS (I think), and how I would hook it up... I've got the two wires for the magnectic pick up from the MSD and I want to try to wire it into the ZR700 optical sensor. I do have have what looks to be a ZXT dizzy, but I'd like to keep the oil pump on for now....unless I have no other options. The old Dizzy with the XR700 optical sensor.... three wires coming out... white, black, and silver. I hooked the MSD mag pick up wires as such: Violet to black, and green to white....and all that happened was a constant spark....while the engine was cranking... coil wire removed... coil wire installed, and it wouldn't kick over unless I touched the wires intermitiantly... I know the MSD work....I had a huge jolt for about 3 seconds and my arm still hurts the next day. The spare dizzy... it looks like an optical sensor as well, but with 4 wires, instead of the 3 on the old one...and if I can't get the msd to use the old 3 wire dizzy, how can the 4 wire dizzy hook up and get used?
  15. 30 minutes at idle, the coil is to hot to touch.... something is not right. But it run's and sounds great, but how long it will run is a huge question. and the dependability in my book is too questionable....
  16. sparkless.....until I toss in a new coil... situation... Coils are dead in a few laps around the block. car... 260Z with half a 280z harness and the rest are mixed parts. symptom's... car runs fine, then dies. Replace coil, and car run's fine...but AAA towing is called for later on in the day. Engine... F54 block, P90 head, 40 webers, pertronix pickups in a 280z dizzy, Allison igniter box thingy, but I think it's an old ZR700 crane cams box, piggy backing on the stock 76 280 transistor..... harness... front half from seats forward are 280Z, seats back are 260Z. Dash... 280 dash swapped in place of 260Z. ECU...280Z new parts to install....said coil, MSD 6A, but leary to drive car anymore in fear new coil will blow.... Possible Remedy...just swap in 280ZX turbo engine with a Z31 turbo ecu system onto an 83 280ZXT harness, which was powering a 76 turbo 280Z with a Haltech in the 260Z?.... anyone else just putting along and have a coil blow on them? have you had a transistor go bad before, or a wire crossed and the coil heats up and looses it's conductivity? I'm automobile savvy, and I've never had coil's blows like this....
  17. I had the same problem...but I tracked mine down with the wire colors... found it under that half box cover next to the battery. 5 blue wires and one green wire.
  18. hrmmm.....I wonder how these would work for some drifting? The fronts at least.
  19. Well, I'm still tossing the meet I planned before in CT, except any car is welcome to show up...so far it looks like the 240sx guys are going to come and outnumber the Z crowd....and we can't let that happen. But they do offer some parts that we can use for our cars, like TB's, turbo parts, and other things. My Z's are still unstreetable, and maybe one of them can make a Z meet in NJ during Sept...but no promises yet.. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=124145
  20. Well, if it still matters, the meet at my house will be on the 25th of August, not the 18th like I planned. I forgot there might be a drift event in CT on the 18th. So the NY/NJ guys can still have and plan thier meet for early august or late July, and everyone in the NE is still invited to the little shin-dig that I'm having on the 25th...
  21. Well, whatever everyone decides is fine. I know my red Z will get pulled over if I get anywhere near an area where cops are pricks...since I have a hooker compitition header, and 4 cherry bombs on some dual pipes...a long drive is out for me with the beast. So, if everyone decides to have the meet somewhere outside of CT, I might not make it. But I have decided to have a meet at my place for a summer bash party for the NE, and most of my good friends will show up, some have Z's, honda's, BMW's, 240SX's, AE86's, Mini Cooper's, Subaru's...almost mostly an Import meet. It will be a sweet time like all my meets. The date will be August 18th, near Hubbard Park in Meriden, CT, 06451. Not sure if I'll plan a rain date. I'm doing renovations to the house, so it may be a mess, or it might be mostly completed...depends on how much sleep I don't get. This will be an all invite, so if your Z doesn't run, bring what will get you there. For the people coming from MA, NY, NJ, and elsewhere, you can bring a tent and crash in the back yard or a sleeping bag and crash in the house. BBQ, BYOBeer, BYOBeef, BYOLawnchair,....etc. Swap meet...if you have parts to unload, or think someone might have something you can barter from them...then game on. I got wheels and a few parts that I could let go, and I even have a few cars if the offer is right. Back yard.... it's huge. Don't worry about parking....
  22. 06451 here.... Meriden, CT, and there are about 4-5 other Z's in this area...
