My 83 280ZXT is making a metal crucnchy sound, like an exhaust burble or extra harmonic as speed rises, but most obvious when parked in front of a solid area.

Is there anything that might quiet this noise until the engine blows, just so I might even get add'tl life before death, like Lucas Engine treatment, Mystery (misery?) oil, etc?

youve GOT TO BE KIDDING !!

if you really have a bearing starting to fail and not an exhaust leak,

the faster you pull it down and correct the problem the LESS DAMAGE will be done to the engine, from metalic crud that the fast failing parts are bound to be producing, as they wear, let alone what will happen once the parts completely fail and start knocking holes in the block/heads

running the engine under that condition is like shooting holes in the bottom of a boat to let the water drain out while your in the center of the lake!

keep in mind the more parts that remain in a reuseable condition the cheaper the rebuild costs will tend to be...when an engine self destructs you might be able to save only a few parts like the water pump, damper, valve covers,ETC.

Especially on a turbo! Buying a junkyard L28 isn't all that expensive, and is arguably less work than tearing down your motor and diagnosing what the actual problem is, but do you really want to change out all your turbo oil lines and buy an expensive new turbo to go with it when you end up with catastrophic engine failure? But if you have to use a product, use lucas, I heard a toyota once that sounded like the head was going to jump out of the hood get quiet and smooth like a new car just from pouring that bottle in there...scary really, if you think of buying a used car...
