Coilover conversion cost?

Recommended Posts

So much depends on how much work your nephew can do himslef. Labor is the biggest cost factor. If you want a completely assembled, ready to go set of shortened struts, I sell a double adjustable set for around $4,500 which is comparable to what you pay for a set of Tein RS160s, if they were available for a 240Z.

If you can do the work yourself you can do a basic coil over kit including cheap springs and shocks for around $1,000. That price includes some slack for replacing worn out parts.

I'm in the process of doing coilovers,I will have to pay,I got quotes from 3 shops and two were in the 1500 range,I have a shop here in the bay doing it for me for 1300 wich I think is a fair price.

It includes the gc coilover set plus labor,I'm going to take the strut housing apart and take it to him.

there was a thread earlier concerning DIY coilover conversions, so if you had the means to do the labor yourself, you could be spending around 600-700 for a coilover conversion. 400 of that is illumina struts, so you could go lower cost on that. the springs, coilover nuts and threaded tubes cost about 200.

Ernie: I have illuminas and sourced my coilover parts from a couple NASCAR-type venders. I think I have $800 in it all together with the "brian's garage" top spring mounts. Soon enough I'll be doing camber plates and some real upper spring mounts. If I reacall correctly I spent $125 or so on the threaded collars and nuts from A1racing.com and $120 on the QA1 springs from Summit. The welding was all free (I was in welding school at the time) because I did it.
