After two long months of procrastination...

Recommended Posts

....I finally got the gauges wired in properly and the car put back together. Went to start it up and the float on one side of the carb hung. Thank god I only turned the pump on to prime the lines...not the ignition! Shot a quart of gas into the intake, flooding the plugs and doing in the oil. 9 quarts of fresh oil, cleaning and drying of the plugs, and blowing out the cylinders finally allowed me to get the beast fired up again. Sounded good having her back to life. Now it's time to go out on a little hunting spree of my own!!!

Wouldn't you know that they are calling for rain the next few days!

CONGRATS! Glad to hear you got it fired up

again. I got mine fired up this weekend as

well. I unfortunately only got to drive it a short distance before it started not shifting and then loosing gears. "DOH" call me Homer Simpson. I didnt have the torgue converter seated properly, needless to say

it is all back apart and the tranny is getting redone this week. Hopefully I will

have it driving this coming weekend.

Thanks John, Yes I am a persistant sob. If

I wasnt i would have never attempted such an undertaking! I was lucky enough to get one good run out of it though. As i understand it if the converter is not properly seated it starts to fry as soon as the engine turns over,(mine did) it ate a huge gouge out of the stater so i never really had any pump pressure to really feel the hard shift and stall converter working properly. Tranny shop says he might be able to get it to me by this weekend. I sure hope he does!

Myron,

Exactly how much do you have in your transmission fiasco now? Didn't you JUST rip that 700R4 out last month? Now again? Dang!!!! Reminds me of the 7 times I dropped my T56 when I couldn't get the flywheel/ Clutch Pressure plate/ Release bearing squared away.... Come to find out it was a balancer plate I was wrongfully told to use. Mine cost no money to troubleshoot, only time....and lost hair!

TOO MUCH MONEY!.... The original turbo 350

that i was going to use got ruined in the flood that was around 400.00. Then there was the 700r4 that my dad called in a few favors

and got it for me for 450.00. Now there is the new turbo 350 and the b&m converter that I managed to fry. I bought it from a friend

that had it in his 70 camaro 604hp & tubbed,

I was with him every time he raced and there was never a problem. I bought it for 350.00.

Now to get it fixed i have to get the torque

converter cut open and checked out and a new

snout put on it(i buggered up the tip) for

125.00 and to get the tranny rebuilt 125.00 for the bench job and 150.00 for the rebuild kit. I just hope that the pump from the water-logged original tranny is salvageable. Not to mention the Mobile1 synthetic fluid that is 5.00 per quart!
