lbhsbZ
measure the hole?
Forces
My buddy switched oil pans to a 7 qt Mildon, I believe, which has that hole for the dipstick right in the pan. I think he used Belzona to plug the hole. It's kinda like JB weld, but 10 times better. I think the NAVY uses it to patch cracks in their ships. two compounds that, when mixed together, dry up hard as steel. Seann
jbk240z
Just go to your local PepBoys or Napa or other? They have an assortment of freeze plugs individually packaged. Bring your dipstick tube to ensure you get the proper size. Good luck.
jnjdragracing
I have use a 3/8 bolt with permatex before, that is if the dip stick tube is out of the block. John
gretchen/jason
The bolt and permatex idea sounds good as the hole is really hard to get to i can barley get to it with one finger . To bad i didnt see it before i installed the engine . i only noticed it after i romped on itone day and saw oil spitting everywhere !!! jnjdragracing
Spray some ether around the hole and some inside, than let air dry or blow with some air. The ether will evaporate quickly, Apply a genorus amount of permatex, usual same engine color to blot threads and push it in the hole, do not aplly at bottom of bolt, you want to keep the permatex out of the engine. Then I would let dry at least 24hrs if not longer. John
endurorider
go to your chevy dealer and tell them you have a target master block and need the cap for the dipstick tube. they should be able to fix you up. They do those blocks a-b blocks to fit a wide range of applications. I have installed a few. you could run two dipstick tubes and freak peop;le out he hehe
endurorider
i dont think youll find a frezze plug that small and i dont like the idle that it could find its way in your oil pan. you could get a wrecking yard tube cut it down crimp it and put silicon on it.
