Greg55_99
This is proof that with the right junkyard parts... you can put together a pretty good (and inexpensive) drivetrain. Mopar 2.5L block Neon DOHC head 94-95 Dodge Dakota 2.5L bellhousing 87-92 Supra Turbo R154 5-speed http://www.turbododge.com/forums/showthread.php?t=130944 Greg
Pete84
Nifty. Any idea of the price of that set up? I imagine the Supra transmission was a bit spendy.

Doubt that tranny would cost all that much. Around here, a 7mgte with a tranny is usually around a grand or so. This is an area where these supras average around 8 grand in price, so i'm sure stateside their dirt cheap.
Pete84
Is that Mopar 2.5L block something sepcial or is it just a pull?
Greg55_99
Is that Mopar 2.5L block something sepcial or is it just a pull? Stock block modified to take the Neon 2.0/2.4L DOHC head. Junkyard parts. R154's can go for around $200. I've picked up a couple for $150 that were good. Greg
Pete84
So how much can a stock block take lbs/boost wise?
myplasticegg
about 28psi with stock, cast pistons on the 2.5.
Pete84
about 28psi with stock, cast pistons on the 2.5. What prep does the block need for 28psi? Metal headgasket?
myplasticegg
MLS is the norm for most guys. block needs nothing. as long as it is a good tune, it will run on the proper gas. put some forged pistons in; good luck breaking it.
spork
If you dig out a 2.2 motor, the TIII cars came with forged rods, pistons and so on, and can handle quite a bit of power with just the addition of a big turbo and boost, and of course a good tune.
