v80z
So I just received a WC T5 from Luigi. Thanks Man!!. I tore into it and the gear look very good. I need to order a rebuild kit. I have a couple questions. 1. Where to order the rebuild kit from 2. Has anyone removed the cluster shaft? In the manual this is the lowest shaft in the casing and the manual says" If you are going to replace the rear cluster bearing you can clip the outer bearing retainer. I did this. The ouer racees are seperate pieces but is he inner race integrel to the shaaft or should I be able to get the inner race off the shaft? Thanks Joe
76s30
mustang related mags have adds for rebuild kits. other good reading material would be "how to rebuild and modify manual transmissions" I forgot who its by. I got it at Barnes& Nobel good reading and half the book is dedicated to T5's of all types.
Zerrari GTO
I just completed rebuilding my WC T5. The best and most complete rebuild kit I have seen is from The Gear Box http://www.thegearbox.org/page/page/3819132.htm. Their kit is a little more expensive but has all of the shims, etc. (the kit I ordered from Hanlon Motorsports did not have any shims but Judy at The Gear Box tracked some down for me). The rebuild video from Hanlon Motorsports was very helpful and guides you through a complete teardown & rebuild: http://www.hanlonmotorsports.com/index.asp You can get the needed V blocks on ebay and a cheap dial indicator from Harbor Freight. BillZ260
Pretty much Zerrari said it all. I did mine about 6 months ago. I downloaded the PDF manual, its allover the place. I also used an article from one of the Ford or Mustang sites, had good pics and was step by step, i think it cost me like 7 bucks for a one month licence but it was worth it. And the guys at the GEAR BOX are the stuff, they will help you w/ whatever you need. GREAT customer service.
Guest Luigi
V80Z, glad you got it and it is OK. Don't tell anyone that I offered a money back gurantee (sp?) I picked up a mustang asnd fast ford mag yesterday and it has a pretty good rebuild article including beefier gears from a company called astro performance. looked good with wider gears and choices on 5th but kinda high @$1150 for gear kit $365 for 9310 alloy output shaft and $45 for the billet cluster support plate. take a look @www.astroperformance.com Luigi
Zerrari GTO
If you can't find the right shims I thought this was pretty cool: http://www.5speeds.com/t5/shims.html
