streeteg
I have a 260Z with an RB25 motor/ RB20 Trans but the stock diff. The stock diff appears to be leaking (I havent checked it thoroughly yet but there is a small puddle underneath the diff) I want to replace the diff with an R200 before I start to up the power--- and my question is this---I already have a custom driveshaft for the swap to fit the stock diff and in the differential sticky it notest that you need a longer driveshaft for the r200---Is that the case? Are there any bolt in options for my setup or am I looking at getting another driveshaft? Also, the car came with an extra differential. The picture is below--- can somebody help me identify what diff it is?
johnc
That diff is your basic upside down long nose R200.
z_cars_rule
I would also suggest that your RB20 tranny will give in before the R200 diff, even possibly before the R180 will.
MrFancypants
From what Ive read, the real problem with the R180 is that it's an open diff and the spider assembly blows out. Install a PowerBrute LSD and you should be fine. Although it looks like youve got a R200 lying around already so it probably wouldnt hurt to just convert "while youre in there". - Greg -
streeteg
Will I need another driveshaft when swapping in the 200? Ive read the sticky-- i jsut feel as if my situation is a tad more unique due to the swap Edit: My goal HP is 400whp. Right the motor is completely stock w/ DP and exhaust
MrFancypants
Only the early 240Z's need to change to a longer driveshaft. I know youre new here, so I'll nicely suggest you read the FAQ's. Here's the one on differentials to get you started: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=114798 - Greg -
z_cars_rule
just another thing i am curious about, why did you get a custom driveshaft made? The spline on the L series box is the same as the RB20 box, and mine was even the correct length from the start.
streeteg
I actually purchased the car already swapped in GA so I am just relaying the information as I get it. It was a project car that I am giving a little TLC to get it to where it shoudl be.....
