z ya Posted June 28, 2002 Share Posted June 28, 2002 Both my 240 and my dad's 280 have steering wheel shimmy while driving at normal speeds(40 to 60). Guest DISCUS Posted June 29, 2002 Share Posted June 29, 2002 Suggest that you start with the simple remedies and work your way down the list. Wheel Balance, Wheel alignment, tie rod ends. Loose wheel bearings or worn. If still a problem check out your bushings and as a last resort, remove and check out the steering rack itself. Pop N Wood Posted July 9, 2002 Share Posted July 9, 2002 For some reason the two threads above did not work for me. Yea, topic has been discussed before. If all above checks out then check the front brake rotor run out. The stock rotors tend to warp causing a shimmy that gets worse under braking.
