Guest TeamNissan
Ok, 1st is me just starting to get to work..... Then I started taking everything off under the hood and inside, boring stuff. I just took the engine apart in the bay and dropped the block out from the bottom. I have a cherry picker its just m.i.a. Cars on jack stands, most is stripped. Cutting and grinding for the perches and collars. This is how I ended up removing my seized strut. I hung the entire affair by chain from the beam in the ceiling to a bolt and washer on the strut. Then a jack on the cross member and piece of wood from the jack to beam. Twisted away and out it came, go figure nothing else worked. This is a before and after of the front suspension. Cleaned and por 15'd, the perches are slits of 2" black pipe. Collars and rings are from A1 racing, springs are from summit. I welded spool pieces of the same 2" pipe onto the hats to keep the spring centered. Toyota front calipers, rebuilt and painted. This is everything ready to be bolted back on. 240sx rear calipers.... This is me, my friend and my moms bf carrying the chassis to the back yard so I could enclose it in a tarp tent and work in the winter. Doesn't it remind you of that mentos commercial? Stripping the interior of the sound deadening. Interior cleaned and por'd. The front end and engine bay cleaned and por'd. Look how bad the fenders and dog legs were, same story on the other side. After I cut the rust out..... This is after I cut the butt off. You can see how jacked up it was in the 1st pic. Like that strait cut right? lol Cut the bumper indent and corner light out. Look what came out of my gas tank.... Working on some fender rust, same on both sides. Here you can see what I cut out and how it was afterwards. Cleaned and por'd the backs of the fenders. Don't want that rust coming back. This of the mock up I did of the new butt with cardboard and tape lol. This is it mid bondo and after the metal work. Looks like a lot of bondo but it at no point is thicker then 1/16". This is as I was putting the rear back. Kind of surreal no? The dog leg mid bondo. I cut the spare tire wheel well out, got in the way. This is where I am today as of June 23, more to come soon. Any comments or questions feel free to PM me. Guest TeamNissan
So today I block sanded and went at it again. I'm happy with how smooth it went but I have a few runs thnx to my 40$ husky hvlp. I think I'm either going to wet sand and leave it or wet sand then hit up a few spots. I'm not sure how its going to look after a sand since its not really a true flat but matte. Ok, so I'm just starting, you can see how bright that damn primer is. Considering where and what I'm using for this job I really think its not too bad. Starting to dry out Annnnnnnnnd done. So thats that, finally haha. Once again though I'm def wed sanding and maybe so touch up spraying. questions or comments feel free .
