SkYBlue280Z
My friend is buying a 1978 280Z and when he test drove it it seemed to run very well and smooth, the only thing hes worried about is when you engage the clutch and stick it into first and then start to release the clutch it doesn't engage until the end. Does this mean the transmission is going out? Or is it just a minor fix? Thanks
cygnusx1
Most likely it's worn clutch parts, bad clutch hydraulics, or very slight chance of gear or u-joint problems. I would venture to say that 99% chance it's one of the first two relatively easy fixes. Have a mechanic look at it before you buy it unless it's a really good price, then don't worry about it. JMortensen
Changing your title. "Important question, thanks!" doesn't give any hint of what is actually in the thread. We want the thread titles to let the users know what the thread is about BEFORE they open the thread, so that when they're searching for something else they don't have to look in this thread to figure out that it is about a clutch engagement issue.
