I always use tacks. tack, skip a couple inches and repeat. let it cool down before starting over on the next pass. just keep tacking untill it is is tacked on every spot. I was basically taking and moving but just starting the tack was blowing holes in Iam trying to find some one with a mig that will let me borrow it!
