1 tuff z Posted August 14, 2007 Share Posted August 14, 2007 i have a 72 parts car which i've nearly stripped of all the unboltable parts but don't want to trash any valuable steel work when it goes to the crusher. no floors but the upper panels [roof, quarters, etc] are in pretty decent shape. also the tail section seems not too bad. doors are nice as well if anyone is interested... so, my question is what do i save [if anything] and if so, what is the best way to separate them from the body? sawzall, cutoff wheel, or? EvilC Posted August 14, 2007 Share Posted August 14, 2007 Just take a sawzall to the body, I would cut from where the dogleg seam joins from under the door up to the top of the roof, kinda like how the NOS quaters panels look and save that panel above the tail light. greenmonster80 Posted August 14, 2007 Share Posted August 14, 2007 I would drill out the panels on their spot welds. This way the panels are exactly the way they should be. Everything comes apart with a sawzall. But putting it back together can be tricky. Highly suggest take it apart the way it was put together. alexideways Posted August 14, 2007 Share Posted August 14, 2007 The only thing I would consider cutting off with a sawzall would be the roof. You cut a the very bottom of each A, B & C pillars and keep the whole thing. For the rest, I think there is no better advice than what greenmonster proposed...
