naviathan
Sounds like you're either too rich or too lean. Pull the plugs and check the color. If you need help reading them post pics. We'll need more information to help you out.
DuoWing
I wonder if your fuel pump is on it's way out. You said that the car ran fine at first? Just because the fuel pump is coming on doesn't mean it's good. I've heard that usually the fuel pump has more problems when warm, so it could be that after sitting for a couple of minutes or so it cools down a little. I'd say get a vacuum gauge, and a fuel pressure gauge. Check your vacuum to see if you have leaks that'll tell you something as far as if your pulling air in or not. Then keep the car idling with the fuel pressure gauge hooked up. Watch and see if pressure starts to drop after the car has warmed up. drifterZ_74
so i removed the spark plugs to check them and they were completely black!...what does that mean???
JSM
Black means to much gas. Switch the plugs out and see if it runs good again. If it does then start looking at why it is running so rich. You've finally fowled the plugs thus the poor performance.
WizardBlack
so i removed the spark plugs to check them and they were completely black!...what does that mean??? Get it fixed before you drive it. By your comment that you installed a different fuel pump on the car, I would look at that or another problem that could be diagnosed like a fuel pump. chrism
If none of that works, check the fuel regulator to see if it is creating too much fuel pressure to build in the fuel rail.
