HICKL
I think I broke another diff, not sure yet, will get it loaded on a flatbed this afternoon to get it home. Was going 65 on the freeway whan I heard this load clank! Then it started making some poping sounds and I can feel it binding up when it does it. This will be my third diff if so. My car isn't that fast, seems like they should be holding up. Of course my annual race event is the Super Chevy which is only 4 weeks away. Dang hot rods.. HICKL
It's that dang spider gear pin again. I welded this one on both ends, but it still broke loose. I have another diff that seems to be in pretty good shape so I guess I will try it again. Jeff

280zwitha383
I know it's lazy of me to ask but what do dana 60's come in. What would my '77 corvette have?
jbk240z
IIRC, a '77 Vette would have a Dana 44.
280zwitha383
I poked around google a little last night and it seemed to say I simply had a 10 bolt 8.5" IRS. I'll have to look at it and let you know I guess....
grumpyvette
a dana 60 came in several high performance mopar big block cars, several brands of pick-up trucks an vans a 10 bolt rear had about a 7.5"-8.2-8.5" ring gear( depends on version) a chevy 12 bolt has about a 8 7/8" ring gear ford had a 9" ring gear in some larger cars the dana 60 has a 9.75" ring gear, and is much stronger than any of the others

dsommer
Are you running an LSD or open dif? Breaking them huh? You're putting down some power. I better stock up when I rebuild my engine, so far I've got an LSD in the car, a 3.9 and a 3.54 sitting.
