bluntmaster280
From what i have been reading the problem is near the hatch area, so i was wondering, what if you put a pantera style hatch and a whale tail on the pantera hatch right where it drops down. It wouldnt look nice but would be effective i think. something like this kind of, this is a very crude drawing so you can get an idea of what im thinking. Mikelly
The pantera hatch causes more problems than its worth... We didn't test the configuration that you are asking about, but the wind tunnel engineer basically told us that to just get back to a zero state (No lift), you'd have to have a pretty tall winge that spilled off the back of the car. Sticking a whaletail up on the roofline does nothing to spoil the near wake. Mike
93anthracite
bringing up the Whale Tail, I've always liked them but I'm having major issues finding one for an S30. MSA sells them for the 79-83, what would need to be done to put it on my '73?
veritech-z
find a used one. they used to be available, but now they pretty much just turn up from private sellers. there used to be somebody on here selling both styles (the one with the lip and the flat G35 style one) in the classifieds, I didn't check to see if they were still for sale. Mikelly
MSA and JCR, along with AZC all used to sell them... Not sure if JCR still does, but I was a HUGE fan of them... I think they look good on one, and I'd get my old one back from JT1 if he'd sell it to me! Mike
flatbackz
my car has a pantera hatch, and a wing thats about 4-6 inches lower then the roofline. it sits right at the back of the car. kind of ricey, but being this tall do ya'll think it will take care of the ill effects of the hatch conversion? i sure dont know nothin bout aerodynamics,it was all i could do to spell the word just now!lol but it looks like to me that the wing would catch the wind and carry it off the back of the car before it could start swirling or whatever it does back there. i like the pantera, but if it proves to be a hazzard at high speed, then it will have to go.
