stprasinz
It would probably run pig rich.. As the turbo afm is much bigger in diameter.
m1ghtymaxXx
I've heard the n/a afm will not let the motor rev very high.

naviathan
Sure we can give you all kinds of answers, but the right one is, it will run rich. NA AFM is smaller in diameter and set to open fully at a different airflow rate than the turbo AFM. The AFM will go to full rich and the engine won't be getting full air flow to compensate. Mixing NA and turbo parts is just a bad idea anyway.
kastmaster
yenghua, so you're from Fresno too? I'm from Fresno (Clovis actually) Nice to see a neighboor on these boards As for the post, I agreee with these guys. I was thinking about doing the same thing as you were, when my AFM went bad on me. Have you tried looking online for a used one? I see a quite a few used ones online from N/A 280zx's.
stprasinz
Well if you in a bind and your afm quite working entirely you could always use the na afm but you should tighten the tension on the spring.. I'm not going into detail but thats about a short worded directions.. And yes it runs pig rich because its a smaller daimeter whole And as for the reving either A. Runs so rich that it starts flooding before the r's go up enough B. the whole for the flow is to small and restricts. I go with choice a because it would still rev in much slower but still rev.... yenghua
so does anyone have a picture of both the na and turbo air flow sensor? or any tips on how to identify a turbo one from a na one.
JSM
I went to the track Day day here in Orlando on Wed. for the Z convention to watch the drag races. There was a guy in a 260Z that had a NA AFM, NA harness, MSD 6AL, Meth. Injection, Intecooler and boost set to 15 to 17 if i recall. He ran a 13.6. I did verify the NA AFM, but not the harness. He was told it could not be done and ran this set up to prove it could be.
