DJ Nexxus
Can the RB25DET or RB20DET Gearbox fit on a L28 without modifications? is it a direct boltup?...I tried searching for this info all over and have yet to get a straight answer!, What would I need to do if it is not a direct bolt up? Shuyun
Try this Thread it is a sticky in L28 section http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=113143 The Z31 is the RB25 Tran
Kennysgreen280zt
The Z32 transmission is the way to go. There is already an adapter for it, and it is very similar to the RB trans. Im guessing they are cheaper as well. The bellhousing on the RB25 trans will not bolt up to the L motor.

Careless
Thanks guys, but I am a bit confused still, if the Z31 is the RB25 Transmission what is the RB26DETT Transmission?....and what is the Z32 tranmisson, thanks......Oh and the link gave ALOT of usefull info! The 83 turbo z31 as well as the z32 and RB25DE equipped skyline models share the same transmission called the FSR30A. The transmission comes in both 2WD and 4WD versions, so it's possible that the earlier GTRs came with the same transmission, but the 4WD is bulkier and has a diff pan for front differential fluid if i'm not mistaken. The later GTRs came with a Getrag 6 speed
mrcheeze36
The 83 turbo z31 as well as the z32 and RB25DE equipped skyline models share the same transmission called the FSR30A. Do you mean 88-89 turbo Z31, z32 (turbo and NA), and RB25DET skylines?

mrcheeze36
Whoah, wait a sec there; The Z32 N/A and Z32 Turbo 5 Speeds are the same? Correct. The NA and Turbo Z32 manual trannies are the same...the only difference is the starter location on the bellhousings.
